Brazilian fighters in general are not very marketable in the U.S. They can't pull McGregor, Lesnar, Ronda numbers or popularity. The only one I can remember was Anderson Silva.

Wanderlei was huge in his prime, but that was before the UFC was on anyone's radar. He had some crazy Pride fights, and was a big draw.

Ronda is finished. She needs to take 2 or 3 years off, learn how to wrestle and then make your move to WWE.

Ask yourself what those three have in common that Nunes does not....

Even Anderson Silva couldn't pull what those the pull. For a reason.

Wow.

Yep. She is done. Blueprint to beating her is simple. Just start fricking swinging. Can't do any of that "Rousey" shite when she can't shoot or grab because she's too busy getting popped in the face.

Just woke up to the news. Really surprised that she wasn't even competitive.

No one that gets cracked in the jaw is ever the same fighter, but competitors and true champions can at least come back and be effective fighters. It just looks like Ronda's a bully that opponents finally started standing up to.

If Rousey fights again it will be in the prelims or in a free fight on tv.

Rousey spent her entire life doing Judo. That's a disadvantage for MMA, compared to something comparable like BJJ. She never did anything with striking until MMA, which she started in 2011.

The fact she had a hold on the division in the UFC is astounding.

But people that can strike present a huge problem for her. It's a skillset she just doesn't have. She doesn't belong at the top any longer. Ironically, it is her fame and accomplishments that are responsible for these other women now being in the sport.

Nunes and Rousey are only 1 year apart. Nunes born in 1988, Rousey 1987. Nunes has been in MMA since 2008, Rousey since 2011, and Rousey was exclusively Judo through the 2008 Olympic games.

Nunes was doing karate by age 4, and boxing by 16. She's been a bonafide striker 3x as long as Rousey has been in MMA, and that was the difference in this fight and it's what separates Rousey from the majority of MMA now. It's a giant vulnerability for her. I also think it's a vulnerability for Tate, and that's why Tate is now retired.

If Rousey starts competing in Chael Sonnen's new submission grappling events, she'll dominate because it's what she does.

But women's MMA is now true MMA. The skillsets include striking and Rousey didn't start throwing punches until 5 years ago. Most of the women now have at least 3x the amount of time working on that skill.

Rousey may still be able to compete but she needs a world class striking coach and at least one year of training. But, I think it's too late. She should retire. I don't believe any of the women, including Cyborg, can compete with Rousey on the mat. But on the feet, she has too much of a vulnerability and she'll get merc'd every time out now.

This leads to another question: What's the deal with her coach? Lot of controversy with her coach. Lot of people think he's not good and there's a lot of shady stuff with him and taxes, debts, repeated losses for those he coaches, and so forth and people are questioning everything related to him.

Either way, Rousey needs to ditch the coach if she has any thought at all to compete again. But she should retire. I heard there's a video claiming she's retired but I also heard it's just people jumping the gun.

she was always a really good fighter but after her only loss in the ufc she switched camps to american top team. since then she hasnt lost a fight and has looked really good.

compare rouseys camp to att and see the difference. rouseys camp has nothing. good fighters that have swapped there like travis browne look like shite.

This is interesting to me. What happened to Travis Brown? and why wasn't he around in any of the videos leading up to the fight?

Regardless, this is a good point about camps. Rousey has been failed by her coach and her camp/s. But ultimately that falls to her to make sure she surrounds herself with the right people. Her mom called for her to ditch that coach long ago.
