They won 5A. Beat some good teams. That place is on fire - new $100 million school and athletic facilities. They pay 2 coordinators over $100,000. Head Coach is in $200,000 range.
damn! hope they got a new angry dolphin sound effect

Color me shocked….they not the only ones doing it though

I’ve been to a few gulf shores HS games the last 2 seasons. They were pretty much unstoppable last year but got boosted up to 6A this year and they’re struggling. But yeah, a ton of big time coaches on the roster.
Go dolphins!
Go dolphins!

The smart move would be to recruit smart kids.

U High has given up scholastic integrity to buy wins. The roster is filled with kids who in past years would not have been able to get into the school.

Everyone who wants to win is doing it in the Select division. People who think they aren't are fooling themselves. Had an Episcopal dad try to tell me they don't recruit for any sport. Laughed at him.

High schools need NIL, a portal and legal online gambling on games.

The LHSAA tells you if you are eligible or not before you start to play. I've been through this with a kid of my own. So somebody lied about an address is all I can figure. But, why does it take this long to figure out?

Been a feeder system for LSU for decades. Boosters give parents jobs so their kids can go to UHigh and then on to LSU.
This is untrue. On several levels. If LSU did have some of the U High athletes in a feeder system, that would be great, but it's just not true.

Never said they were, but they did it without a care in world. #1 rated 9th grader transferred there as soon as he took job from hours away. 2 Tranferred from Orange Beach immediately and QB from Spanish Fort transferred too. 2/3 kids from North Alabama ended up there too.

U-High has been doing this for around 15 years now, and at a scale greater than all the other schools in the BR areas.
In the past, the top players at U-High went on to play college ball at ULL, Tulane, Southeastern, etc.
All that changed around 15 years ago when they brought in legit college talent from NBR with transfers coming in as 8th and 9th graders. The first of the bunch was Nick Brossette, Garrett Brumfield, and Tim Williams. All three played SEC football.
Right about this time as well U-High made the jump from 2A to 3A, which gave them more leeway with student numbers. So they used that as an opportunity to bring in more talent because it worked so well the first time around.
Things hit their peak when Gordon’s son became the QB. That’s where his NIL generosity started.

And this is why there should be a split between public schools and private schools.

Gotta be good at something for the BR wannabes because Episcopal has them beat in academics.

They don’t. Laugh all you want. They are competitive in their district most years but not much beyond that as far as football goes. There has been efforts by parents to start recruiting but they always have been rebuffed.

Public schools do the same thing but have gotten sneakier about it. Now they bring them into the system in 8th grade so they have a full 4 years to play and keep it under the radar.

They’ll have to pry my U High license plate out my cold dead hands

Episcopal tends to get accusations of recruiting when they end up with minorities.
If those kids are high achievers academically, it is a different ball game from the kinds of dipshits who couldn’t spell “cat” if you spotted them the C and A.
From my experience, a lot of those teams are built on training up technique rather than having raw athleticism.
If you look at the school’s track program, you see that their historic strengths center around pole vault, 1600m, 3200m, relays, and other events where technique is the big deal as opposed to short sprints (100m) or pure power (shotput).
Great athletes come and go but being able to put up multiple pole vaulters every year capable of hitting 12’6” or above means you get a ton of points in district and regionals at the least and have a puncher’s chance of placing high at state.
