If Tyson lands a strong combo or two, he may literally kill Paul, or make him retarded for life

Actually you can. Jake Paul would easily beat the ever living hell out of 99% of people
I will give him credit for this. He and his brother were not trained boxers growing up. They literally started it for Youtube views as a full grown adult. Even still he's probably a top 2% boxer on the entire planet at a minimum. That's insanely impressive.
To go from first picking up some boxing gloves 7 years ago, to now fighting against The Mike Tyson. That is quite the achievement. That takes a shite ton of dedication and work ethic. I don't think for a second he will ever be competing for a Heavyweight title. But to even get to where he has gotten is pretty commendable. Not bad at all for an annoying Youtuber.

Paul is -205

Videos are out of him doing sprints, no walking Cains in sight.

he's an influencer. I really don't think he actually cares about being taken seriously as a boxer. He only cares about the engagement he creates by fighting who he fights. In that regard, it's a win-win because this will be a massive payday for him
Check out the documentary they just dropped leading up to this fight on netflix. Paul says boxing is a true love of his and basically saved his life. He was partying too much in L.A. and ended up despising that area and a lot of the folks a part of it. It’s a big reason for him moving to Puerto Rico to get away from all that.

I’ve watched most of it. And the docuseries only reinforces my point. I do give him credit for building his brand, though. However, if he cared about being taken seriously as a boxer, he’d be fighting real boxers. But he’s not. He’s fighting retired MMA fighters and 58 year old for big pay days and publicity

No
Too many real fighters kill and have gotten killed in the ring to ever respect a pretty boy who doesn’t need to be doing this. YOU DONT PLAY BOXING.

quote:Not in the realm of boxing. The only reason this is happening is because he's popular in social media. He didn't earn his way up because of his boxing. It's nit like he earned a title shot or even a fight against a top 10 boxer. It's a side show, an exhibition.

I hope it is rigged for Paul to win, but when Tyson gets in there he lets the monster loose and knocks Paul back to the third grade.

Tyson slapping Paul isn’t a good sign for Mike. Seems like he always acted out like that before fights he lost

I can't figure out why this is scheduled for a Friday night. I don't think that UFC 309 was a thing when it was scheduled?
This bout is probably a work, of course. But as has already been mentioned, if anyone has the mindset to create some chaos, it's Tyson--especially an aged, meditative Tyson.
The Tyson-Jones fight a few years ago was probably a good litmus test for the Paul fight. Roy showed up to collect his paycheck and entertain the fans while Tyson showed up explicitly to take Roy's head off. It was all Roy could do to clinch with Tyson the entire bout just to avoid getting KOed.

Typically staged Tyson weigh in where he acts crazy to sell tickets.
Remember the Lewis v Tyson face off where Tyson charged Lewis? Everyone thought he was crazy. At the time, it wasn't well known that Tyson and Lewis were childhood friends and were very good friends leading up to and after the fight. Lewis used to train in the Catskills with D'Amoto and Tyson when he was an amateur. They have known each other since the were 15.
But the public bought it and it sold PPVs and tickets.
Lewis and Tyson both laughed about it after the fight.
I really think the people talking this fight up never actually watched a Tyson fight outside of Youtube highlights. The know the myth -- not the reality
