no it isnt the change to 38 is new, the rule in regards to giving 4 or 5 year contracts to players over a certain age however isnt. and if morey thought the rule was still the 36 rule, then this looks worse

quote:

Windhorst: Nene is 34 but will turn 35 before next season. Rockets interpreted the new rule was that they could give him a 4-year contract. They wanted to spread out the money so they could guarantee him $15M. No one here at this table or in the league thought he would play those full 4 years. That's why they have this rule in the first place. Nene thinks he's getting this 4 year offer. He didn't care about the years. He cared about how much money, $15M for the rest of my career. They miscalculated. Only 3 years which means only $10M. Nene heard, "Wait a minute, that $15M just became $10M. Deal is off." So he's back on the market.

U can't turn 38 before Oct 1st of any year of the contract. He would turn 38 the last year

Even if it were the old rule. They can't do it

Nothing is done with Rudy Gay. He is visiting OKC and the name plate is part of the visit . Miami is interested in Gay as well. He would be a huge get if OKC can woo him.

Michael Scotto @MikeAScotto This Rudy Gay OKC Thunder locker was "just part of the visit," a source told Basketball Insiders. No deal as of now.
