If it were most famous athletes worldwide today I’d be curious to see an argument against it being Ronaldo, Messi, Lebron, Alcaraz and Sinner.
I think more people world wide would recognize

Mike Tyson was more famous than Michael Jordan

Famous athletes worldwide?
You have a very American-centric list.
The answer is Messi, Ronaldo, Federer, Nadal, and then probably whoever the best cricket player is, as that's a massive sport globally.

You think Fed and Nadal are more famous than Michael Jordan or even Tiger Woods? No chance.

Yep, in the world. I don't think you realize how big both of them are across the world. Maybe Jordan is on their level, Woods not a shot.
Tennis is probably the third biggest world-wide sport behind soccer and cricket. Golf isn't even close to tennis' popularity across the world, even though it's bigger in the US.

Sachin Tendulkar may be a dark horse. Cricket is actually the world's second most viewed sport after soccer because of its popularity in India, Pakistan, the Caribbean and the Commonwealth nations. Tendulkar is called the God of India.

Football, baseball, golf and tennis stars aren't well known in 3rd world shitholes. Most famous athlete has to be famous enough in the US, Europe, Africa and India/China. That limits it to soccer, basketball and maybe F1.

Thinking fed or Nadal are on Jordan's level is wild, sorry man. It's not even close

I'm not going to argue with you, but let me put it this way:
The biggest basketball star right now is LeBron James, right? He has 4 million followers on instagram.
Federer? 13.1 million. Nadal? 21.2 million.
NFL is MASSIVE in the US, yet Tom Brady has over 5 million less followers compared to Nadal (although he has more than Federer.
I don't think you realize how much the rest of the world cares about tennis, even if it's a small sport in the US.
