Tony Romo accepts responsibility, opens up on struggles with pain meds and alcohol

Despite never being a big Romo fan, I can admire his honesty and accountability in light of his recent arrest.
You may think that he’s only doing this now because of the circumstances, but maybe it’s what it took for him to get help. He sounds optimistic about an eventual return to broadcasting and CBS.

As a Dallas fan can I sue big pharma for damages I endured watching him choke?

doubt he will be returning to the coveted gig with Nantz
my guess is he resurfaces with another network somewhere down the line
he may have been drunk in the booth with Nantz at times

Pretty masterful example of a response.
Though I always find the public response unnecessary. What does Tony Romo owe me? Nada

Is releasing a written statement in 2026 the biggest cop out there is?
If I was serious about owning my mistake and going through the tough process of rehabbing myself and image, it wouldn’t start with a curated statement.

Tone, Tone, Tone...you blew it.
Obviously, your hormones were completely out of whack. That absolves you of any responsibility.

Nantz was reportedly wearing pink today.

I get it, but it is very funny to talk about taking complete responsibility and also taking a no contest plea

He just doing this in attempt to PR save his job with sympathy. It won't work. He's gone. This is CBS' golden parachute.

My body is wrecked from 40 years of working on cars and other physically demanding things.
I have never been arrested for DWI/OWI/etc... but I do overuse alcohol and cannabis to try and control the pain.
I also don't have the funds to have a "team of doctors" to help me.
And what are they going to do other than prescribe PT and pain meds?
Should I release a statement too?

I’m not sure if ‘cop out’ is the right phrase for it, but it’s definitely cheesy as hell.. especially when it’s blatantly obvious it was written by someone other than the person delivering the message

My sympathies go to anyone living in chronic pain, it sucks and is an absolutely awful way to go through life.
But his issue in this case wasn't that he drank alcohol, it's that he drank alcohol and got behind the wheel of a vehicle and at no point in his statement did he address THAT part of it, just the drinking. He makes 18 million dollars a year plus what he made in earnings throughout his career, the cost of a personal driver or an uber ride is nothing to him and his irresponsible decision had nothing to do with his back injuries. He could have done the right thing from the jump for what amounts to pennies to him and he chose not to. If he feels the need to publicly address this matter then that is what he should have focused on.

That's where the pain killers come in.
