Is releasing a written statement in 2026 the biggest cop out there is?

If I was serious about owning my mistake and going through the tough process of rehabbing myself and image, it wouldn’t start with a curated statement.

Where would you start? Now when someone owns up to a mistake and admits he was in the wrong and doesn't make excuses it's a cop out because it was a letter?

In a more vulnerable setting where I could be held accountable and express my regrets and issues I was facing.

At this point in time, a written statement is too self serving.

I didn’t need him to come out and say anything. He did, though. And he chose the easiest path. There’s a decent chance he had nothing to do with the statement even.

In these times? Yes.

You have absolutely zero clue if he admitted or owned anything there.

ETA: Just read the letter. It might as well be AI slop. He hit every trope there is.

I’m proud of Tony. It’s not too late to save your life before it’s too late.

My body is wrecked from 40 years of working on cars and other physically demanding things.
I have never been arrested for DWI/OWI/etc... but I do overuse alcohol and cannabis to try and control the pain.
I also don't have the funds to have a "team of doctors" to help me.

And what are they going to do other than prescribe PT and pain meds?

Should I release a statement too?
You also won't be on the national news should you make a mistake.
