Belichick made Young Brady. By the time Brady went from “game manager” to “legit star QB” he already had 3 rings and was a made man. But Old Brady also covered a lot of aging Belichick’s drafting deficiencies. Belichick got used to being able to plug in randos all over the field and by the end he thought he could win with just anyone and football doesn’t work that way long term.

No cap. The GOAT made the coach. Belichick rode Brady’s coattails to a hall of fame career.

Those Pats teams were elite defensively.

Bill is just old as shite trying his hand in one aspect of the sport that he has 0 experience.

Realistically, what the frick were UNC thinking bringing in some old retiree to ‘steady the ship’ after just firing some old retiree who was brought in to do the exact same thing? They aren’t a bad program and are in pretty fertile recruiting grounds. They could easily get a legit G5 coach at the very least.

This is underrated. The championship didn't follow Brady. It followed Gronk.

Brady has 7
Gronk has 4

A healthy Gronk would've kept Brady in the league longer though. Imagine if Hernandez hadn't been a murdering psychopath and just channeled that into football. Unstoppable offense.

A 55% completion rate and more interceptions than touchdowns is elite?

Maybe I'm thinking of 85. But he had some great years with Parcells

In my opinion, this argument went out the window after Nick Foles carved up that elite BB defense. Tom had one of the greatest Super Bowl performances in history throwing for a record 505 yards and Billy couldn’t stop Nick fricken Foles, if his life depended on it.

I would say the fact that every part of his career without Brady being below .500 makes him an average HC who got a Generational leader at QB and rode him to greatness.

Every great coach in history has done the same.

He's past due and I doubt UNC works out well for him, but there's no doubt the man could run a football team better than anyone else. It wasn't just Brady. He was the most important piece by far, but there are tons of great QBs that never win anything because the coach/GM couldn't field a compatible team for them.

This is also neglecting how like Saban, Bill evolved with the game. He did the same thing when he got Randy Moss and they went from a defensive team to an offensive juggernaut. People forget Brady wasn't Brady yet for his first 2 super bowls. It wasn't until later where he had to try to carry the team by himself.

The odds that Bill has the same work ethic now as he did 25 years ago with something to prove is pretty slim.

We can’t determine anything about his early Patriot days by watching him at NC now.

You actually just made the argument against Brady. 505 yards and he lost because his defense didn’t carry him. Any idiot that calls Brady the goat after he got thoroughly outplayed by Eli Manning TWICE and put up only 14 points in that first SB shouldn’t talk football anymore.

Bill had Lawrence Taylor, the greatest defensive player in NFL history. Belichick didn't make that defense, it made him, as did Bill Parcells and Tom Brady. As much as he's won, you can make the case that Belichick has ridden the coattails of greater men his entire career.

It’s a team game. Tom had some of the great defenses of BB teams

Meh

It seemed like about 400 of those yards were free, and just given to Brady by the defense.

I’ve never seen so many wide open receivers.
