If you're a great athlete, you don't have much of a family life.
I think Gisele is like a lot of women, she let her gossiping, catty friends get in her head about what she needs. I think they got her feeling that she needs a guy at home to walk the kids to school, go to baseball games, take the family to the Poconos when that's never been their life.
When she was in the model friends group she probably loved their life. She got out of that group and moved to the real housewives group, and well this is what happened.

Why was it so important to her that Tom not play for a few more months of his life? Dude is in great shape and is probably only halfway through his life, does a few months out of 40 years really make enough of a difference to tank your entire relationship/family?
She also knew this was his passion when they met and got married.
At his age, once he's done playing you're done playing forever; literally for the rest of your existence, and you only get one life. It's not like chess or playing guitar where your physical fitness isn't important, it's a passion that you can only excel at for a finite amount of your life.
If he loves it that much, of course you'd want to squeeze in every bit before you can't do it any more for the rest of your life

They’ve been married 13 years. I can’t imagine when they got married he said “hey. I’m gonna play another 13 years.”
She probably thought she was signing up as being a football wife for 5-6 years tops.
If TBay doesn’t make the playoffs this year, it’s going to look like he hung around one year too many.
