I've seen the light after witnessing today's events.

The days of dominant college football teams are over in the NIL era. From now on, its just going to be utter chaos/carnage and just trying to hang on every week.

a bigger playoff is the way it has to be because unranked or lowly ranked teams can now beat top 10 teams in this era as we've seen today.

Playoff committee should shut out independents

scheduling is going to become very important, as well as heavy roster management. you'll see guys sit more. one or two injuries and your season it done because nobody has meaningful depth.

does it really mean much in this current 12 team playoff? they are still going to get in easily.

It’s pointless now! The only team left of their schedule is Miami!

It's already that way though. ND lost to Northern Illinois a couple of years ago and still comfortably made the CFP.

why if they’re one of the best 12 teams?

Yet they needed a last second miraculous TD catch to beat last year's biggest disappointment Penn State. Going undefeated and being dominant are not the same thing, atleast now. They used to be synonymous but I would wager that any of the top teams in this day and age couldn't survive in the 4 team playoff era.

We will see when a team that has no chance of winning a title, like Tulane, takes out a starting qb of an actual competitor

There has never in the history of cfb been 24 teams capable or deserving of winning a national title. But there will be non capable teams capable of wrecking an actual competitors chances

Funny. To me, today is a textbook example of why the 24 team playoff is going to suck, because the weight of all these upsets is heavily diminished because all these teams will have so many mulligans and it's just going to be all about making the postseason with the least amount of injuries and playing your best at the end of the season.

After a day like today people should be thinking their teams don't control their destiny anymore except for Miami/BYU and maybe Ohio St. Instead, a lot of these teams that suffered upsets just need to hope it doesn't happen again. And even if it does happen again they'll still be in when it goes to 24. The weight of these losses are nowhere near as heavy as they used to be. It's just meme fodder for a week at best.

With a bunch of 23 year old 7th year seniors on their 2nd marriages and a house with two kids after getting granted a Covid year, a medical redshirt year, a mental health year, a tonsillitis year, and a “just because” year.

That ship is sailing.

This wont happen because the non capable teams won't be playing the title favorites in this new format. Remember the top 8 teams get a bye week (and their first game at home). So all of the non capable teams would have already been eliminated in the first round.

The new format is really a 16 team playoff with a 'play in round' to get rid of the pretender/fringe teams
