There's a reason 99.9% of judges strictly prohibit cell phones from court rooms. Either Quinn got special permission, or the judge wanted this shite out in public. This whole things sounds like a massive judiciary disgrace.

You do know the whole thing is public record, you could get a transcript of the whole proceeding. Plenty of trials get live tweeted and even more are shown live on TV, surprised this one isn’t.

What am I missing? Why are these guys coming forward to rat out their dealer?

Not sure how Harvey was originally implicated, but I thought he was testifying in exchange for immunity bc he was looking at charges

What charged could Harvey possibly have faced? I bet the DA threw some inflated charges at him and he got scared. Kind of like all of the basketball assistant coaches had 30-90 years in prison and all got 6-10 months.

Harvey is pretty washed but as a first time charged defendant, he just exposed everything he did to avoid a few hundred dollars in fines and 50 hours of community service. Maybe some outpatient rehab for a few weeks.

I'd much rather have my players doing what is essentially adderral every day instead of fricking opiates and cocaine.

The wife of the dead junkie pitcher AND the Angels claim they never knew Skaggs used drugs, yet federal witness testimony claims the defendant supplied drugs to Skaggs on numerous occasions. In what clown world does an oxy addict go unnoticed by their wife and MLB employer?

you would be surprised how easily opioid addicts are able to hide it. Especially one with the money to support a healthy habit

The wife is harder to believe than the employer but it is not like he is coming home every night. At the same time what does she care, the money is coming in and he seems fine.

Especially if you mask it behind alcohol abuse. Yesterday during the widows testimony they read one of her last texts to him. Was something along the lines of “don’t get drunk and forget to text me before bed”. When he didn’t answer (because he had already presumably died), she said “you have a drinking problem and I’m going to tell” (I think the traveling secretary)

Yeah I think they’d been married a year or so and he’s gone for extended periods 6 months a year. Not hard to believe

I can definitely see his wife thinking he had a drinking problem and not a drug problem.

And Skaggs may have been so addicted to opiates that he thought it was worth getting flack from his wife for being an alcoholic, which is more socially acceptable.

I don't agree with this.
How common is it for a drug dealer to be convicted for the accidental death of a user?

If you sell someone illegal drugs and they die from it, why would you not be held accountable?

What specifically do you not agree with?

The guy is not charged with murder he is charged with intent to distribute resulting in death which seems right on.

Not if youre living with the person, around them a fair amount of time. The way it changes their behavior and personality is damn obvious, especially as the addiction worsens.

this was in federal court, no?

if that's the case... then that's why this trial isn't being shown live (video wise)... federal court doesn't allow cameras

I don't have a problem with charges related to drug dealing, but he shouldn't be held accountable for the death.

Skaggs had alcohol, oxy and fentanyl in his system. He choked on his own vomit. No one else to blame IMO

Right, if he just takes the oxy he’s probably still alive
