Next year will be worse. Wouldn't surprise me if it's sub-20mill.

You’re telling me people weren’t interested in seeing the #7 team play the #8 team to determine who’s the best team in the country? I’m shocked.

Who do you say were those best teams in the country that lost to these two teams??

Losers don't advance. They were losers.

the game was played way too late, the gap between conference champion games and national championship game was way too long…especially when you have high quality NFL playoffs in between

Correct. They have too many teams in the playoff.

Now that the college football regular season is completely meaningless, they should consider just playing about six regular season games and going straight to a large playoff in October. There will never be a just way to determine the seeding in a college football playoff because they are so many teams that do not play each other.

By the time the game was played, lots of people were burned out on clollege football. I kinda forgot about it myself.

Shoule end around New Years Day.

They never seem to realize that not having over the air broadcast automatically kills of a percentage of viewers.

Playoffs are too long. You are now at 2 weeks beyond what has been the NC game and now you are overlapping into NFL divisional playoffs. Still only down 3 million viewers is not horrible

Almost as funny as it is for Ohio St fans to ignore the part about AND lost to two opponents as well. And both teams lost to unranked teams.

But, yeh, "Best ever" LOL

The cadence of games was particularly terrible. The playoff would appear and then disappear for 2 weeks before coming back and it did that like three times.

At least with the 4 team playoff they would fill in some of those days with BS bowl games to keep college football on the TV schedules. No reason they couldn't move the first round up, and not have 2-3 10 game gaps between rounds

it's not 1990 anymore.
The Chiefs Texans game on ESPN was the most watched football game outside of the super bowl ever.

You're not missing out on grandpa with bunny ears. that grandpa is paying $250/month for cable/internet/landline phone and other stupid crap he doesn't need.

The game is just too far removed from the college football season. I didn't even know the game was that Monday until that Monday afternoon.

Playing "bowl games" for playoff games is just so stupid. I get it, random rich dudes get richer b/c of them, but they are so pointless in the grand scheme of college football and just take away from what college football is about.
"congrats on this random Peach Bowl trophy for winning a playoff game and then losing by double digits in the semi-finals. I'm sure you'll treasure this Peach Bowl victory no one will ever remember was won"
If they want to do the semi-finals games at bowl sites, then fine, but let the top 4 teams play at home. It's stupid that #1 Oregon was playing #8 OSU in the quarterfinals, and even dumber that it wasn't in Eugene. What was the point of finishing #1?
The whole system is just so stupid. It's turned off so many fans from caring about it.

Why would an inauguration, which had been over for hours, impact the football game viewership?

The playoffs went on far too long. The first round started on 12/20. The championship game was on 1/20. That is too much time.

The schedule needs to be adjusted. The semifinals should have been the New Years game. Then the championship game for a week later.
