they fired medical staff that Luka liked and told him to join the team on a road trip.

They also called him fat but that’s not his truth.

In August 2023, the Dallas Mavericks traveled to Springfield, MA to celebrate Dirk Nowitzki’s Hall of Fame induction.

Days after the trip, Mavs GM Nico Harrison informed Casey Smith (Director of Health & Performance) via video call that he was being let go, despite Smith being in Ohio attending to his dying mother.

Harrison is an even bigger piece of shite than I thought. Dude had been w/the team for 20 years and was so well thought of he is the main guy for Team USA and he fires him like that? Total scum bag.

I just don’t know how you don’t call at least two or three teams to try to get a better deal than they got. Just put a deadline and say you have 12 hours to get back to me or something.

How you trade for Street Clothes is beyond me. This is NBA tomfoolery right up there with the Knicks getting Patrick Ewing and Jordan playing baseball instead of suspended for gambling.

Someone straight asked him at his press conference today, “Why shouldn’t you be fired?”

He also admitted later on he didn’t realize how important Luka was to the Dallas fanbase.

None of that explains why only the Lakers were contacted about a trade

They didnt shop him to anybody else for a better deal

Maybe you treat Zion like that, but I’d think Luka earned the benefit of the doubt by now?

And as for only contacting the Lakers, they probably thought word getting out that Luka was on the block would kill any deal

Something is off about Nico. I think Dumont talked him into the checkers move of Fat Luka and defense while really playing the chess game of tank the team and move them when the city won’t build a new arena.

I mean the big piece in return is Street Clothes AD? At 30 years old? Nico is too dumb to see the long game.

They did. They contacted the Bucks and Minnesota. Neither wanted Luka.

I heard a clip on the radio where Nico said something along the lines of “We didn’t realize how much Luka meant to the city of Dallas and its fans”. Who actually admits this in public

Marc Stein, who probably knows more about this trade than anybody, said this wasn't true. At best, the Mavs approached both teams with an intentionally vague trade offer without ever mentioning Doncic. Stein has insisted the only team that ever was given Doncic's name was the Lakers.

This makes the situation look even worse. How Nico is still employed by the Mavs is mind blowing.
