First of all, a drive that goes "250+" is not a popup. That's a ball hit high on the club face.

Couple that with trying to hit a draw and throwing the toe through way top much, you get the shot Tiger hit.

Man. I just watched the vid. Before I opened it, I expected it to be a nitpick but frick, that dude went STRAIGHT THE frick in. You could tell HE knew he was wet immediately. That ball crossed into the water immediately and anyone saying otherwise is full of shite.

So Tiger lied?

That's a ball hit high on the club face.
Which is generally considered a pop up.

Which wouldn't normally create enough side spin to snap hook if struck too high on the club face.

I know you work at a golf course and play a lot golf, but to pretend that a pop up, duck hook that travels that far isn't rare is silly.

Considering I see it weekly, I would disagree.

And not from 20 handicaps on the range, from 2 to +3 guys, two of which are pros.

Rare from Tiger? Sure.

Rare as a shot? Not at all.

I'm not calling Tiger a liar, I'm questioning his use of terminology. It may have seemed like a "popup" to him, but that wasn't a popup. It was just hit high on the face. There's a difference in the two.

I do that all the time. Not that far but I can't hit it as far as Tiger

NBC showed that best angle once...they never showed it again. Lulz. it was like when a home team fumbles and its ruled down by contact, the home scoreboard operator never shows a replay

There is no doubt that it immediately crossed the margin of the hazard...that is right in front of the tee box...but then it was back over the fairway and THEN turned left...

So. It went straight, then turned fairly hard right, then hooked left AND was hit fairly fat?

Dayum. Did Oswald hit that thing??

tossing up James Leitz all up in here

I love the golf dick-measuring contests which almost every golf thread inevitably leads to...the only thing this thread is missing is VP

And to the subject - Johnny Miller had his comments teed up almost as soon as Tiger's ball hit the water - he had made up his mind to go there no matter what

that's how it felt to me. If tiger didn't have the fiasco at the masters a month ago, miller doesn't say a word, IMO.

He does what he is paid to do...Somehow this week his 63 at Oakmont was not brought up...which is odd considering that is the low round at the Players also...you would have thought someone would have teed it up for him (no pun)

I always thought Miller was a pretty big tiger fan. Obviously fan isn't the right word since he's a commentator but he's always seemed to praise him as much as anybody.

Miller isnt a fan of anybody. He is an angry bitter old man who dislikes anyone having success.
