Kyrie bombing and AD not coming sucks but, long term, this could turn into a special group.

Tatum is 21, Smart is 25, and Brown is 22. The C’s have a young project in Robert Williams that looks promising, 3 first rounders in this draft, and the 2020 or 2021 Memphis Grizzlies pick.

We’ll see what happens at PG. There is talk that Deangelo will come to Boston if Kyrie goes to Brooklyn. Otherwise, I think the C’s stick with Rozier who’s another young guy at 25.

What about 3-4 years from now when those guys enter their prime?

Rookie Tatum and Sophomore Brown took them to game 7 of the ECF.

I’m just glad we don’t have to hear about Stevens being the best coach in the NBA anymore

I really enjoyed watching the Celtics two years ago

Without Kyrie maybe they can develop more Also Hayward should be better coming into his 2nd year since the injury

Agreed and I think they will. Now that the cancer is gone I expect they’ll surprise a lot of teams.

With Horford and Kyrie not on the books next season, the Celtics currently have 8 players on the roster and around 27 million in cap space. If they can resign Horford to something like a 2 year 40 million contract that will give them a starting 5 of:

Smart
Brown
Hayward
Tatum
Horford

Bench of

Williams
Baynes
Ojeyele
Yabusele

With about 7 million in cap space. They need a vet PG and some depth but they have several picks this year they can use for end of the bench guys.

We’ll see if Hayward returns to form and how Tatum and Brown develop. Kyrie was a net negative for this team and it showed.

Celtics have only gone down since the end of 17/18.

They went from possible contenders to the Warriors to middle of the pack playoff team in the east. Probably wouldn't make the playoffs in the west.

I said it last year, Kyrie is overrated.

He's a phenomenal scorer, but he cannot get guys involved as much as the ball is demanded in his hands.

defensively, he's meh because half the time he doesn't go all out.

I’ve been trying to tell y’all about Kyrie for YEARS.

As always, you let your ridiculous Lebron hate whittle you down to a babbling idiot.

Always kind of liked the Celtics but this year Kyrie was a joke. I’ve always said they should get back to fluid basketball and keep building with their assets. I don’t see what the problem is with them.

Jinxed your team with this thread

Major change in the Al Horford situation:
Per source close to Horford, his side is no longer discussing a new 3-year deal to stay with the Celtics. He is expected to sign a 4-year free agent contract elsewhere...
Story to come.

the problem is all their rivals in the East have better superstars and Tatum needs to get up to Kawhi-Embiid-Giannis level

I didn't mention Horford. I'd rather the C's let him walk than sign a 33 year old declining big man to a Chris Paul level mistake of a deal.
