Absolute truth.

I dont want broadcasters dropping cuss words and slurs and such mid broadcast, but inadvertently like this hot mic, sweet mother.....suspend the guy for a bit and move on.

What kind of money do announcers like this make?

Agreed

One can say all sorts of shite that isn't polite and be a reasonable, pleasant, productive member of society.

I'm not outraged that he'll be canned, even though it's silly, but it is sad to watch.

And the type who scream "all you have to do is not be an homophobic a-hole!!!" on Twitter/Reddit are probably absolute garbage human beings, on average. Which just makes the whole thing a little more depressing.

He's only been suspended. Maybe he has enough good equity to earn a suspension with no pay for a while.

Yep, give an inch they take a mile.

Weve gone from tolerance to complete acceptance and compliance.

Tolerance means tolerating, as in gays not having to hide, fear being beaten or worse, etc. That is fine and how it should be.

Acceptance and compliance is entirely different. I mean, its disgusting behavior, but if irs two consenting adults and it doesnt harm anyone else, then it isnt my business. My opinion is its wrong, but I don't care either. Doesnt mean I advocate for Thom saying fig on air, but I dont care that he did either.

The whole thing is absurd.

The funny thing is his dad had quite the hot mouth too. Like father like son I guess. Luckily for his father the majority of his career was back before everyone was a pussy.

Not in this day and age.

I don't see any way the Reds keep him. The alphabet soup groups in Cincinnati are ripping him apart right now.

Maybe he manages to keep his national gig with Fox. I hope so. I think he is a good, professional broadcaster and I have always liked him, back to his days with the Cubs.

Marv Albert was a fricking weirdo who did weird shite and he made it back to prominence after a few years.

Yeah, I am so tired of seeing people lose their entire careers over an offense.

A suspension is much better than straight out firing.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone get fired mid-game.

I wasn’t technically fired because I was never paid but I had to walk out of the press box down the bleachers at the half of a high school girls soccer game.

Apparently the PA announcer for the home team shouldn’t point out insurmountable leads the visiting team faces. It’s “unsportsmanlike”

Twitter backlash is nothing compared to soccer moms booing a high school volunteer announcer as he gets ejected from the booth.

It's clear now that's he's not though. Dropping a "f" bomb while mic'd up, even if you think you're not on air is the height of stupidity and unprofessionalism.

He was replaced in the 5th inning of game 2. I'm assuming he was calling the game from a studio in Cincinnati since it was a road game. The fill in guy was probably their post game host or something and was already there

Talk about a change in pace, with Jim Day finishing out the game was the 1st time this season that the Reds brought in a reliever and I was confident he wouldn't frick it up.

I wouldn't fire him for using offensive words. I would fire him for being longtime professional broadcaster and not knowing to stay stupid things on mic.

You can even take the mic away, and he’s still in his workplace. Saying that word with that inflection can get you fired in most (well paying) workplaces these days if just one person hears you. It’s what the whole concept of “NSFW” means.

The game has grown in stature anyway now that Tom Brady has gone to Tampa so the following statement is just a joke. But we won’t get Brennaman doing both Saints-Bucs games this year. Seems like he’s been a staple on those when he’s not doing that Seahawks-Cardinals game in Arizona or the two NFC at Cincinnati games.
