every single person i know that went to p state is very vehemently defending joep and damning the BOT...it's kinda creepy. i don't see how anyone can read the grand jury report and still stand by his side

Oh, you mean the rumors Madden has no problem throwing out whether or not they are based in fact? This typical character assassination is something that never should have seen the light of day, and it's a shame the Times sees no problems still writing this guy a check to put out unsubstantiated garbage like this.

I cant imagine what is going to come of this whole thing.
I suspect the dots are going to be connected with Gricar pretty soon

If the cam newton saga taught me anything it's that 90% of twitter is bullshite. This is an extremely bold accusation to just throw out there. I'd hope he has some info to back a claim like that up, but I guess in the twitter era you don't

And to be fair, a comment to the April article from someone who seemed to understand the local culture:
quote:
This isn't journalism it is a column. It is supposed to be provocative -- to make you think. I think it is more an indictment of the journalists covering sports in this area that these sorts of suspicions are not investigated and reported despite an 18 month grand jury investigation to lead the way.

This dude broke the pedo scandal back in April.
In 1999, he reported that Snadusky was FORCED out.
Sounds like this guy has an inside source.
Posted on 11/10/11 at 9:17 am to CptBengal
yea, i think what is important is who is reporting it. the guy has been on the leading edge of this whole debacle. i don't see why he would risk his cred at this point, there's no need to make this any worse just for shits and giggles

bingo...he's batting 1.000
no reason to lose the streak, my guess is that there is someone high-up on the inside that can't directly say something so they are feeding this dude information.

I sure hope Joe Pa wasn't involved. With all of this.
Posted on 11/10/11 at 9:23 am to safetyman
Maybe JoePa really was used as a puppet? I'm hoping against hope as for some reason I like(d) him.
People say that JoePa WAS Penn State ... is it a stretch to think that THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE WANTED people to think and that there is some deep, dark something going on and JoeP is taking the fall?
I know ... I know. I'll stop.

Penn State Predators. All you bro
I've been civil through this, but I'm growing tired of this shite. Label those pieces of shite as they are, but stop with this blanket shite. There are hundreds of thousands of Penn State alumni that are furious by the actions and inactions of the people involved.

To be fair, this is a RUMOR and if brooks is backing it up than it certainly isn't true.
Posted on 11/10/11 at 9:26 am to Oates Mustache
I agree with Oated ... you can't make blanket statements like that.

This was posted on another board by a guy who has been saying this was gonna happen for the last 6 months or so. He has some ins in the local media
quote:
Supposedly, Joe knew of things as early as 1996 and supposedly a former player was molested and Joe helped to keep it quiet. This player, with help from Paterno, got a great job right out of college at a place run by Paterno's friend, which helped keep the situation quiet. Also, apparently, the Second Mile was made to prey on young boys who nobody would believe if they told anyone anything which happened. It was made for Sandusky and not for a charity. Everything Paterno and everything Jerry and the Second Mile will be flipped upside down and plenty more will come out. In light of new details, Paterno could end up getting investigated and even charged. He may not even live for that much longer, but it could get very ugly for Joe from a legal standpoint, as well as much uglier from a moral standpoint.

Well, I'm going to assume that this is the big fish brooks talked about when he said it would be bigger than Miami and Ohio St combined.

I suggest you need to become less civil & more thick skinned, because it isn't going to get better, especially on here.

Not according to Lester Earl. Joe was a middle manager. he had bosses. he told his bosses. case closed. One more game!

I remember when Sandusky announced his retirement. This was big time news back then. He was the heir apparent after Paterno.
Now we find out that Sandusky basically built a business so he could seduce children. What a sick frick.
I didn't want to believe it, but JoeP is just as guilty as Sandusky. He knew about this guys behavior. Its possibly one of the reasons he stayed on as head coach as long as he has.
