The university does not refer to itself as Louisiana in legal documentation, however, the athletic departments official name for all of its teams is Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Chalk it up to some clever legal loopholes.
If you are referring to the university it’s The University of Louisiana at Lafayette
If you are referring to the atheltic programs it’s Louisiana Ragin Cajuns
If you are referring to the university it’s The University of Louisiana at Lafayette

It’s not the same . The only reason the ncaa does is because the SID ask them too. UT isn’t a regional school . They are the original UT just like LSU has LSU-S and LSU-A .UT has several universities that spun off in different location ULL is just trying to hard to be something they’re not .

LSU = State Flagship
Louisiana (ULL) = Statewide University
Louisiana Tech = Statewide University
UNO= Statewide University
Every other school in the state is referred to and funded as a Regional College.

Exactly. It's a type of fraud. They are NOT the University of Louisiana. They are the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
The dimwits at ULL think they are fooling people into thinking ULL is some type of prestigious place like Michigan or Florida and even Alabama.

UNC-Chapel Hill just refers to themselves as North Carolina even though theres 500 UNC schools apparently.
Who really cares? It's not like anyone is going to get the Cajuns mixed up with the Tigers. Kinda sad this comes up from some butthurt LSU turd anytime the Cajuns get a bowl game, bracket spot, or CWS slot.

Are you the same goon who complained about our name last week and said that we should go back to usl and drop down to 1-AA for not knowing our place?
That bastion of ignorance alone doesn’t deserve any indication of a response but I’ll give you one anyway.
It’s called “marketing and branding.” These two terms cater to perception......being something bigger than what you are.
Do me a favor. Go enroll at your local community college and take a Marketing 101 class. This will be one of the first lessons that you learn.
