Make a TD 7 pts and give the option to go for a 1 pt conversion.

The XP really is useless. That result in the exact same thing pts-wise as now, you just wouldn't have to waste time with the XP.

If that isn't acceptable, make it where the person who kicks the XP has to be a part of the scoring play. That would make things much more interesting.

As usual, Goodell gonna Goodell.

Why is he always trying to fix something that isn't broken. I think he is going to be the death of one of the most popular sports in history. He is ruining the game with these annual rule changes.

The game of football isn't broke. It doesn't need fixing. If the extra point is nearly automatic, simply move it back to the 23 yard line, and it will make the extra point a 40 yard kick. I bet it will be made 85% of the time, but you would still have some pressure on that kick.

This.

This is why football scoring is one of the smartest things they've developed over the years. This is why 2 field goals is equal to JUST SLIGHTLY less than the "automatic" seven of getting the ball in the endzone. That's the entire point. The 4-3-1 points swings throughout games ARE THE TENSION. This makes football a game of field position, clock control, patience.

We've seen the patience part lose ground over the years because of WC offense, PI changes, QB hyper-protection, and now hard hits. Scoring might be the only thing keeping it from the XFL-level of "excitement." Which is to say, none.

Bring the ball out from where the touchdown was scored similar to rugby. Can you imagine the formations for touchdowns scored at the pylon? Sure wouldn't be automatic.

I like the idea, but if you're gonna do that, why not just keep touchdowns at 6, and just make 2 PT conversions a must after scoring?
Making the automatic 7 seems silly to me. You were just complaining about that extra point being automatic and now you're wanting to just make it guaranteed? If you want to add excitement, then make it a 2 point play. Or...make it a 1 PT play from the 1 yard line and a 2 PT play from the 3 yard line. Or something like that.

The XFL already did that.

I don't see why you have to replace it with anything. Just make a TD 7 points and go straight to the kickoff.

or leave the best sport out there alone....

Push the spoke for the XP back to the 20 if they want to kick for 1 pt.

Keep it at current spot for 2 pt conversion (non-kick)

Or, they could do nothing to the XP, but make varying point values for kicks of different lengths.

They should leave it alone.

If 7 points is given for refusing the conversion, isn't it more automatic than than actually attempting the XP?

Or is this just an argument to get rid of one useless play in general?

In college terms, it definitely isn't automatic for Cade Foster...

Everyone is over thinking this. They just need to push it back like 10 yards, that is all.

Exactly. The 2 point conversion is an exciting play, especially in crunch time, and without the PAT, the chess game of when to go for 2 or not is lost.

Change it to Rugby Rules where its worth 2 points and where you kick from the position of the field where the touchdown is scored.

Go back to the old way we played street ball.

TD = 6 points
pass play = 1 point
Run play = 2 points
