I'd take DeAngelo Williams over him. And maybe Antonio Cromartie.

deAngelo williams is the best back of the draft by a mile, he had 20 TDs last year. 20.

Williams is an DE that sacks the QB at a high rate. He's a player defenses have to scheme against.

The only way you take a player before him is if they are an impact player at a more important position (probably only QB) or if the player is someone you think will be a HOFer.

Which is why, for this thread, the legit answers are Cutler and Ngata (some may not be as high on him as I am, but I think he's that good).

Bush- 24 TDs in 3 season

Faulk- 28 TDs in 10 seasons

Faulk: more all purpose yards than Bush over their first 3 years, a proven chain mover, great blitz pickup blocker, and widely recognized as one of the key components of a championship team.

the thing about ngata is he doesn't rush the passer

you could acquire shaun rogers or kris jenkins on the cheap. both are better than ngata b/c they can rush the passer

or you could get his equal in stroud for cheap

He is going to be one of the top 3 running backs in the league this year IMO, whether he splits carries or not.

Without Faulk, Tom Brady wouldnt have 3 SB rings. Faulk made a lot of key plays.

ngata opens everything up for the Baltimore LBs who then can rush the passer and make plays.

hahahaha

because of over 2000 yards in kick off returns

rushing, receiving, punt returns

Faulk: 1893 yards. 10 TDs

Bush: 3600 yards. 24 TD's

pretty horrible comparison

speaking of the texans, Gregg Williams had a good quote about the upcoming joint practices.

quote:

"We're going to practice our way. There won't be any referees out there and we'll play them in the parking lot if they want to play in the parking lot. We're going to go over there and play. They'd better be ready because we'll be ready."

Does Ngata even try to rush the passer, though?

He absolutely dominates what he does, and guys like Lewis and Reed talk very high of him. That's good enough for me.

He's making Lewis look like an amazing LB, despite him not being nearly the player he used to be.

he's a good 2-gap DT, but he's just a 2-gap DT without any pass rush ability

there are some DTs who can play 2-gap and rush the passer, like rogers, jekins, and haynesworth

there are a bunch of guys who can play 2-gap as a fatty NT and just eat up 2 blockers

jenkins was traded to the jets last year from carolina. he had a nice 1st half of the season but his terrible conditioning and lack of motivaiton sunk him for the rest of the way in '08. the jets defense wasn't the same to end the year.

do they not count?

If you would prefer a guy with flash but little substance who's team has a worse record when he plays than when he doesn't, that's your call.

Over the long haul i want guy that knows and accepts his roles, excels in football basics, excels in the clutch, and is also versatile.
