You do realize that Wrigley and Fenway are baseball stadiums and that the Dome is an all-purpose stadium? Which is great...nobody said it didn't serve its purpose...like a giant closet. To each his own.

I love your backhanded comments

What makes the Astrodome more historic besides it being the first one?

One person's opinion qualifies as "the voice of the people?"

Um, NO.

what he doesnt mention is that the Rose bowl is right behind Bass Pro shop on his bucket list

yeah...that's pretty funny considering the only state not as shitty as Mississippi is Louisiana.

yes...I know Alabama is near the bottom, but it still ranks higher than those two states.

Hey just adding to debate...I thought if you worked for ESPN...it became "we...the people."

This is too many pages for a stadium that will one day be imploded.

ESL? Here's a tip--it's best to learn the language before calling its speakers dumb.

Secondly, a mountainous view has nothing to do with a stadium's historic significance. You're having trouble comprehending the subject of this thread.

In short, damn, you're dumb.

But I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself (though you probably can't do it--you just seem like a guy who likes running his mouth). Remember the list of SuperDome historic events?
quote:

Superdome: 7 NFL Championships, 5 Final Fours, 3 Title Bouts, 11 CFB National Championships, 1 Papal Mass
That's 27 events. Can you name 27 things that have happened at the Rose Bowl? What are the first 27 things that come to mind?

Eventually, yes...but it's already outlasted many of its brethren...and will be around for a long time yet.

Just for the record, being an "old school" guy, I still prefer outdoor stadiums. I would enjoy seeing a game at Autzen one day. It even had great historical significance of its own...it was where Pinto broke his maiden in Animal House.

Imploded like Yankee stadium? Or like any other old ballpark will eventually be? Cool

Your astrodome couldn't even sustain and it wasn't half as versatile than the Superdome

Well that's me...I don't dislike the Superdome per se...I dislike all domes.

The Rose Bowl is old and probably not in the best shape...but there's no other place I'd rather watch my favorite sport than on a New Years Day on a clear sunny day in Pasadena - outdoors on grass.

FWIW I agree with everything here essentially, but it doesn't really address the historic significance of any stadium, which is the subject of this thread and, I'd assume, your basis for bashing the Superdome in this particular thread.

Since no real hardware of consequence was ever really won in there, I'd have to rank Kelly Leak's Bears beating the Toros, in winning one for lil Lupus..

Right up there with Wynn, JR Richard, Ryan, Scott, Moon, Earl Campbell, Bags, Biggio, Hayes vs Kareem, Knievel's rare not crashing, and Strait playing the HTown Rodeo.

Astrodome looks like Reliant Stadium's lil tincan powerplant building sitting adjacent.

It was probably a shitty concert, what with no pretty mountains to look at.

There used to be mountains in the dome when the scoreboard was sponsored by coors.

People make special trips to the Rose Bowl, Wrigley Field, and Cameron Indoor Stadium because it is unique or the atmosphere. The Dome doesn't have that.

Wrigley Field is the only stadium out of those that I would be interested in going to. The Rose Bowl looks like it has an awesome atmosphere on New Years Day but that is really it. Cameron Indoor Stadium? LOL, it has nothing on an NFL Sunday at the Dome and surely not anything on a primetime Saints game on a Sunday or Monday night. I've been to some Sugar Bowls, Florida-Notre Dame, Florida-Miami, Auburn-VT, VT-Texas, and Utah-Alabama all but two were loud that I can remember. The VT-Texas game and the Alabama-Utah games were pretty dull as far as crowd noise.

I can't believe it took 5 pages to list the rolling stones concert.
