Neither Wrigley, nor Fenway, nor the Rose Bowl (a joke) can compare to that.

Wut? Can we now count the times a team has won the CFB National Championship after they played the Rose Bowl? That would be a lot given USC..and every Big 10 team all won their pre-BCS titles after playing the Rose Bowl.

3 official BCS title +1.
5 Super Bowls

2 World Cups - The Rose Bowl hosted the men's final in the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the women's final in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup. (The only other stadium in the world with this honor is the Råsunda Stadium near Stockholm, Sweden.)

2 Olympics

The Superdome has hosted a few more events. That's great...I guess.
So great that it has hosted more significantly historic events than Wrigley, Fenway, and the Rose Bowl.

You do realize that Wrigley and Fenway are baseball stadiums and that the Dome is an all-purpose stadium? Which is great...nobody said it didn't serve its purpose...like a giant closet. To each his own.

I think you meant Lakewood Church.

Friend used to live off West Alabama nearby, one day we drove by not knowing that the Comets had just played an Finals game vs NY..for a second we couldn't figure out why 100 bulldyke groupies were standing outside the locker-room door in 100* heat.

the Rose Bowl,
Ridiculous to think that this has as much history as the Superdome.

Cameron Indoor
Amazing atmosphere, hardly any historical events. It hosts nothing but regular season college basketball. Nowhere near the historical significance of the Superdome.

MSG
Top tier.

The top three extant venues in the country, in terms of historical events, are MSG, the Coliseum, and the Superdome.

Not the subject of the thread.

Kaufman Stadium is a bucket list stadium because it's a MLB park. Doesn't make it historic.

i cant believe people are mentioning Cameron indoor in the same breath.

a bunch of damn nerds jumping around makes Cameron better than the Superdome?

The Dome has hosted some of the greatest Final Fours in history. But they are on the same level cause Dickie V crowd surfs ? lol

Comparing the Superdome to the likes of Wrigley, Fenway, Yankee, the Rose Bowl, etc. is apples and oranges. All are great in their own way and have many legendary stories that took place inside their environs.

I'm fortunate (and old) enough to have traveled considerably and visited a lot of stadiums and arenas. Quite a few were great to visit just because of the history that took place inside of them, even if they aren't aesthetically pleasing. Candlestick Park in SF won't make anyone's "best dressed" list. However, it definitely has seen many great events in its day. Just being inside there, knowing so much of what had happened there added a lot to the experience for me.

I can tell you that no stadium anywhere has had as much of a symbolic or economic value to its community as the Superdome has to New Orleans. We've all heard so much about how the Dome and the Saints have been linked to the rebirth of New Orleans, so I won't add to that on here. What I can tell you is that if you're old enough to remember what Poydras Street and what's now the CBD looked like before the Dome was built, you're aware of how much it revitalized that whole area.

that is what makes the Rose Bowl stadium unique. It is next to the mountains. You're not sitting in a dome looking at a ceiling.
So which is it, pal?

Yeah...because every fan and list goes...

1. Yankee Stadium
2. Madison Square Garden
3. Augusta
4. Rose Bowl
5. Superdome

That's like putting a U-Haul truck next to sexy sports cars and same they're the same class.

What's funny...is people don't even see it as the most historic Dome...

4. The Astrodome
9. Rose Bowl
12. LA Memorial Coliseum
17. Superdome
