Gayle will eventually die. She's stated she wants the team to stay in NOLA and all this bullshite, but somebody will eventually buy the team from the trust or from whatever. That person will then tell the state "I want a new stadium. I want it to be the best arena in the league, and the state is going to pay for it."
Then the state will say "no, we can't. We don't have any money."
Then San Antonio or St Louis will say "WE'LL PAY FOR A NEW STADIUM!"
I feel like this is more likely to happen for the Pelicans

I noticed that, he should have gone with Walter Payton

It will probably happen to them too. Technically both teams are only still here because post-Katrina, their leagues wouldn't let them leave. However, all that good will is almost certainly used up at this point.

Why should it be the state of Louisiana’s responsibility to pay for a new stadium?
I typically agree with this statement. However, for New Orleans I can see a return in investment for them. If the city loses National games, Sugar Bowl, NCAA basketball, Football playoff, etc it would be troublesome for tourism dollars.
I apply this logic to a few ‘destination’ cities - Miami, San Antonio being two. San Antonio has made some money off the AlamoDome
San Diego letting the Chargers go and the subsequent suck that is the Holiday Bowl (it used to be great but never a big one) they have no shot at hosting a Natty or playoff game and that city absolutely should be at the top of a lot of these lists.

That stands always seemed very far from the stadium

Great list of names but they forgot Les Miles and Ed Orgeron.

That is going a bit too far, but the Superdome is certainly in the conversation for the most significant American sports stadium. Eight Super Bowls, tons of big Sugar Bowl and national championship games, six Final Fours, some heavyweight championship fights, etc.
I’ve been to the dome twice. 1986 Saints vs. Dolphins and 1993 Sugar Bowl (Bama vs. Miami).

Tiger Stadium >> Superdome

It is a horrible place to watch a football game due to being so far from the field no matter where you sit and that annoying constant echo from the play by play guy!

No doubt, especially when only NOLA reaps the benefits and $$$ from it! Make NOLA pay for it! Nashville is paying for their new stadium.

The Dome’s greatest attribute is its location.

remember seeing it built. It was the talk of the nation at the time. I swear the deep hole they dug to get it started looking like it would be a pond in 5 mins. I bet they had to pump that thing out constantly to lay that foundation cement.
