Good now if ND will win it’ll be a combo breaker of the same teams over and over

The sec has no depth because all the 4 and 5 star 2nd stringers go to the portal to start elsewhere

As an LSU fan I’m fine with it, I’d rather a northern school win than a rival SEC team. Also, when you list it out like this it really puts into perspective how insane Saban’s run was. Don’t think we will see anything like that again for a while.

Yep. Plus, it’s nice having some different blood in there.

As an adult, I’m able to put the p&g glasses down and enjoy some good games with great coached teams who are all bought in. I don’t even compare them to LSU or play what ifs anymore.

CFB is ultimate reality TV.

My mom is a Texas alum, and she was super pissed tonight. I just laughed and said at least your team wasn’t playing in the Texas Bowl sponsored by some sauce company. I want to get pissed off too if my team loses in the semis.

Fact is, ND, Texas, and OSU (assuming Day hangs around) will be contenders more often than not and have some solid coaches.

I think conference pride mattered during the BCS era, but it's silly to care about it now with a 12 team playoff.

What sort of football fan roots for their conference foe to win anything?

Ohio State and Oregon are spending the most money on players. You losers have been paying players forever. You just always sucked.

An insecure one who will grasp at straws to claim victory. Can you imagine a Michigan man sitting in the stands chanting "Big10! Big10!" While watching Ohio State beat Texas?

CFB is about rivalries. When your rival is doing well, it motivates you even more to knock them off. If they suck, you only need to suck a bit less to win.

Back before the SEC's run, back in the 60's and 70's and 80's, those Michigan and Ohio St people talked all the time about the Big10 and "This is Big10 football" and crap like that.

It's always LSU fans that talk the most about this and downplay the conference more than anyone else - because they sucked so bad against Bama and they got demoralized, but chasing Bama is how they got 2019.

You chase your rivals and in-conference opponents. The better they do, the harder you chase. The harder you chase, the better you get. This logic is very easy to follow.

Your point is idiotic because it’s completely off the mark. But hey, any way you can think you’re looking down your nose at us “dumb southerners” though, right?

The SEC chants started around the BCS era because for years before that all we heard was how “dominant” those Big Ten teams were vs the rest of the country. Since National Champions were basically crowned from those northern based writing firms year to year, this really hurt us. Once the BCS started and started using more than bias to match our conference’s best teams together, we saw how “dominant” the Big Ten was. It was a classic us vs them.

You don’t hear that as much anymore because the rest of the SEC has Bama (and now Georgia) fatigue. And the rest of the country gets it that the SEC really is the nation’s premier sports conference so there’s no longer a need to be that way.
