Mahomes is a great player and the 5 straight AFC title games is impressive, but with many claiming he is on pace as the GOAT based on one Super Bow ring need to take a look at what type of team he took over.

2015-2017 Chiefs under Reid and with Smith at QB went:

11-5, 12-4, 10-6.

Of course, Mahomes elevated them, but Reid already had them as a playoff team with significant talent.

People also seem to be forgetting that Reid took Philly to 5 straight NFC title games. McNabb was a strong but not GOAT QB.

Fact is that it is more about Reid than Mahomes, although Mahomes is a key reason for their success.

The most annoying thing about twitter, is that any post about a player, some idiot posts ( insert name ) is betah within the first few post.

Meh. They’ll both be 1st ballot HOFers, but assuming no major injuries, Mahomes is on pace for a top 5 all time QB career. I don’t believe anybody will consider Reid a top 5 coach. He needed Mahomes to get him over all those 10-6/11-5/lose in the CCG season humps. Mahomes would be balling wherever he went.

Their current offensive weapons are Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Pancheco.

Kelse is a dog, granted.

Reid is an all time great too and he could keep this team afloat with a league average QB, but there's absolutely no doubt Mahomes elevates that offense.

I remember when LSU and Fournette crushed him.

Sounds like the Pats without Brady during his run

Mahomes wouldn’t have sniffed a Super Bowl yet if he’d been drafted by the bengals.

he's three career wins behind Landry for 4th all time. And his winning percentage is 35 points higher. He's got a pretty decent argument for top 5

Yeah, they had good teams back then, they had Alex Smith I think at QB who had become a good QB. But he wasn't no Patrick Mahomes, that's the difference. Alex Smith was comparable to a Dak Prescott, good regular season QB, but sucked in the playoffs. When Reid traded up to grab Mahomes ahead of the Saints it was because he knew Mahomes had that special something in him to get Kansas City to the Super bowl.
