Then I’m sure you’d have no problem with the NBA removing the racial/gender agenda that’s currently taking place, right?

I watch for the basketball

I can tune everything else out pretty easily if I disagree with it

I honestly don't even notice or care enough to let it bother me

these people are worse than woke liberals who spend every second of their lives crying about police reform or green energy

could not imagine spending every day of my life being outraged by politics. pitiful

At this point it is what it is. I was starting to get into basketball a couple of years ago while the Celtics were making their run and I was going to a bunch of Nuggets games, but Lebron and others endorsing people committing mass atrocities while simultaneously shitting on everyday people for not "getting involved" was kind of an instant shut down moment.

Also as a dirty casual, the officiating and pure deference towards star players is kind of insane.

Agreed. I don't really care for what the NBA is doing personally, but we're at a point in time where you could walk around being outraged about anything. I'd rather just live my life and enjoy what I enjoy.

I can agree with this take too. I got irritated, and stopped watching. I don't understand hate watching just to bitch on a message board.

My son was watching steph in the 3 point contest, I tried to watch with him. I decided to go play with my daughters instead.

I love basketball. I coach basketball. I play basketball still.

I’m not going to go along with what is a lie just because I love the game.

They won’t and don’t miss my viewership. I just can’t tolerate the hypocrisy

No not at all

You must be new here

Before 2016, I can’t remember political threads leaking over as much into other boards as much as they do now. In fact, if there were political threads, usually about politics in sports, it seemed to be most of the MSB were posting about how they wanted less politics on the MSB/OT, etc and less politics in sports.

Now you can go through most of the major boards on here and there’s 2-3 threads of outrage. And if not 2-3 threads, 2-3 posts by some members trying to drag politics into every facet of conversation.

Hmm. It's almost as if those people are reacting to some facets of sports that have changed, particularly in the last 9 months or so. I wonder what happened.

Lebron was going to respond to this, but is waiting for China to notify him of the correct answer.

It’s happened more since 2016 and peaked within the last two years, even before COVID and George Floyd. The point is, people didn’t really care about those things on TD as much as they do now. People on here didn’t hardly give a second thought to politics or any conversation about it outside of PT.

When Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012, those threads were mostly contained to PT and a couple on the OT. If something was posted on the MSB, particularly when LeBron and the Heat wore hoodies to a game or something, it went a couple pages and died down. People didn’t want politics on the MSB then but there weren’t threads upon threads about it. Now it’s left and right politics being interchanged daily on multiple boards, likely due to an influx of Trump supporters post 2016. Before then, people really just came on here to bullshite and have fun talking about a shite ton of different topics on so many different boards from movies and tv and video games to random shite on the OT and sports on the MSB, SEC Rant and Tiger Rant.

Now it’s filled mostly with people bitching across every board. I like to believe people came on TD, at least I know I did, to escape from the day to day and have some fun connecting and laughing at stupid shite that gets lost in the shuffle.

Let's be honest here because I have a feeling you are being very disingenuous with this effort against the NBA.

Have you every driven a Ford or GM vehicle? Bought something from Amazon? Have an iPhone or bought a coffee from Starbucks? Flew on a Boeing aircraft?

If so, than one could argue and ask, do you care about human rights in China?

Yes, the NBA is F.O.S. with their hypocrisy when it comes to China, but so are many other big time U.S. companies. They've all sold their souls for money. So unless you have decided to say screw pretty much every big American business, I don't believe you are on the front lines fighting for human rights in China. And if you are, I applaud you for being a better human than practically the rest of us Americans.

Stuff like this gets pigeon-holed and oversimplified so people can react accordingly. There have been and continue to be more whites in these BLM marches than blacks. CNN and Fox News simplify it as democrats and republicans. Don't get much dumber than that folks.
