The much hyped 2021 QB class has been very disappointing

This QB Class was supposed to be special :/

Lawrence is good, but not the can't miss prospect everyone expected. The rest are just bad.

quote:

Lawrence played arguably his worst game of the season. He was sacked five times, threw two interceptions, lost a fumble and said his performance was one of the worst of his career. Lawrence's first lost fumble of the afternoon was the 18th of his career. That's seven more than any other NFL player since 2021 (Lamar Jackson, 11).

This is why tanking in the NFL isn’t a successful strategy.

It’s so hard to predict NFL success, especially at the QB position.

The 2024 class is being touted as one of the best and deepest ever. I agree with the 2024 assessment, but you really just never know.

None of this is shocking. After Lawrence, none of these guys seemed like franchise QBs.

Also, imagine if the niners didn't trade up for Lance. It hasn't really hurt them, but they actually could've added another impact player to an already loaded team. It's funny they get a pass for such a stupid decision bc every other move has been great

If Purdy had Jamarr Chase lining up with Debo, Kittle, Aiyuk and McCafferey. Damn.

I like Zach Wilson. I think he’ll be a top 12 QB at some point before his career is over.

What's your rationale behind this?

Grab outside of Lawrence (who has disappointed) I don’t think these guys were all that hyped

Really outside of Mac, all were pretty raw prospects that had had high ceilings and low floors

I liked him coming out of college too, but he has shown nothing. If he sucks with his next team its OVER!

Zach Wilson has shown flashes of being really good, but was set up to fail with the Jets.

Fields can be exciting or terrible depending on the play, but the Bears are a mess in general. It's hard to judge him based off his time there. A team with weapons and a better coach might make him a top half QB based on his play making ability.

Mac and Lance were terribly overhyped and no joke they busted. Both come from absolutely dominate programs where they have the best lines, receivers, and running backs and all they need to do is be game managers.

Wilson showed last night that he has elite physical tools but Vinny Testaverde is the only guy I can think of who was a physical freak and kept getting chances for years until he finally figured it out mentally.

I see your takes on other boards are just as bad.

Im of a firm belief that drafting a qb when there's other glaring holes is a bad investment. Sometimes it works out (Joe Burrow and the Cincy Oline) but it seems theres more instances of it going sideways. Build the lines and receiving corps first then go get your guy. Yes it's a longer process but it pays off, if done right, IMO.

I would love to see Fields on a different team.

The Bears have been a putrid franchise for QB's for as long as I've been alive (nearly 4 decades).

With his athletic ability and scrambling ability, he should thrive in this league. I don't believe the Bears are allowing him to play the way he wants to.

I don't love the top of it as much as other people do.

Williams has drama/bust level 10 to me
I like Maye a lot
McCarthy? I'm not sold he's a legit 10 year QB in the league
Penix I like but he's a lefty which always is strange
Nix - I don't know what to make of him because he was legit awful for 2.5 years, then is good at Oregon. Not sure if it's the system or he's improved a ton or both
Daniels - He has Lamar Jackson level talent but people complain about Lamar not being good enough all the time
Sanders? - Nah
Ewers - he has all the physical gifts but for some reason his play on the field has never clicked with his talent

So I think it is deep for sure but not sure how many guys you really think are leading franchises in 5 years

Rumors this morning that he's staying in school

Are these going along with the Manning transfer rumors? It would make sense if both ended up being true (although I'm not sure any of the schools mentioned for Manning are real)

I'm not as sold on Maye because he's not always the greatest decision maker and has shown accuracy issues in clutch situations.

I don't see the comparison between Daniels and Lamar. Daniels is a much better passer and while he's good in a straight line, he's not close to Lamar in lateral movement and overall running ability.

Caleb is a unicorn, the dude's got the tools and yeah he may not be the easiest guy to deal with but neither was Rodgers. Maybe his attitude cripples him in the NFL but I could see otherwise.

They would not have traded up to 3 take Chase they did it for a QB. Their pick, 12 overall, eventually went to Dallas who took Micah Parsons. adding him to their D is scarier than adding Chase
