Independent 7 v 7 teams, baseball travel teams, etc are threats to the LHSAA and high school sports. That’s why they are against them.
Colleges are now using these as recruiting platforms, and no longer showing up to the LHSAA events.
This is already the case for smaller profile sports like Tennis, Golf, Soccer, Swimming
There is really no need for the elite high schoolers to play besides helping out the school. All the recruiting is done through the outside leagues. High school sports Governing bodies across the nation are deathly afraid that could creep into the bigger sports.

Colleges prefer leagues like AAU over LHSAA due to the ability to scout multiple athletes at one game/event.
Baseball/Softball/Volleyball/Basketball all see more coaches recruiting at travel tournaments than local games.

If the top 100 athletes in the state skipped HS sports altogether, that'd be fine lol. HS athletics is about the kids who work hard and play for teams rather than their own selves.

Disagree. 7 on 7 is one of the only ways kids that play in an option offense in high school can get a look. Do you think Malachi Dupre is rates as highly as he was if he doesn’t play 7v7?

glad wrestling is standing up for theirselves and attempting to regain control.... the state tournament being moved to north Louisiana is one of the worst things to ever happen for the growth of the sport.

North Vermilion’s Tommy Byler states once again at workshop that a proposal to limit/ban nonschool based 7-on-7 football teams will be tabled and is not up for vote. #LHSAA @AdvocateSports

That's the word, but we are prepared to file suit if necessary. It backfired in other states that tried to violate the rights of kids and their families. #OverReach

His proposal to equalise the non select football classifications failed by a slim margin... 131 schools voted for 0-10 and 1-9 teams in the 1A and 2A playoffs

The split in baseball is stayin ... 203-98

5A baseball will NOT go to best 2/3 in round 1... And coaches no longer have to wear helmets on the field
Posted on 1/26/18 at 11:34 am to GEAUX5
I'm tired of hearing about splits. It's obvious they are here to stay. The publics will not go back to playing in the playoffs with the privates in the major sports. The privates are wasting their time continuing to try to fix this.
It's time for the private schools to either shut up and accept their second-tier status, or drop out and form their own group. As a graduate of a private school, I hate that it has come to this, but here we are.

I’m sure it was due to lower classes not wanting schools dropped down. I was told Landry Walker would’ve been dropped to 4A in the scenario.

I think next year they should start the push for 6A... Do that in conjunction with equalizing the non select classifications and it should hopefully pass. Only problem is those public schools can't force the selects to go from 4 divisions to 3 anymore

Are they gonna move the state wrestling tomorrow back to the Ponchatrain Center? Whoever decided to move it up north is a moron.
