The Jets QB position is intriguing because Sam Darnold is still on the roster. While he hasn’t lived up to the expectations, Darnold has shown flashes and a new coaching staff could resurrect his career. He’s only 24 and hasn’t had a lot to work with.

However, Deshaun Watson has made it clear he wants out of Houston and the Jets could be a potential landing spot. Do the Jets make a play for him?

Then there’s the Draft. As it stands, they’ll pick second overall. With Lawrence slated to go to Jacksonville, Justin Fields and Zach Wilson are possibilities at 2.

So who’s taking snaps at QB for the Jets next season?

If I was making the decision, I give Darnold another season to prove he is or isn’t the guy. Build up the roster then figure out the QB position.

I don't think Darnold is right for them, he's had 38 games to prove he is the guy and I would dare say he has only shown that he is far from the answer they need. Granted, the Jets have a variety of problems on both sides of the ball, so who knows exactly how much of the blame should be put on Darnold.

For me, the right play is drafting Penei Sewell to complement Mekhi Becton. Becton had a decent rookie season despite battling injuries. That shores up the offensive line (which ranked 29th this past season according to PFF) and allows the Jets to either ride with Darnold or try and flip him for picks and trade for another QB.

If they draft Zach Wilson, their options are severely limited, as they don't have any other choice than trading Darnold and rolling with Wilson at QB. If Wilson doesn't prove to be any better than Darnold, the Jets would be in the same position they are now with nothing to show for it.

Jets should keep Darnold one more season and trade down a dozen or so slots and take a solid kid like Mac who will be grounded enough to handle NY. Then if Darnold lights it up once he has a fire under his arse it’s a win / win for you.

It is insane that teams are afraid to trade their young, underperforming QBs now because of Tannehill’s resurgence. That is such an exception for the rule.

Trade Darnold and draft at need positions. Take a QB you like if you can but they will pick next year high and can grab one then

There was a time when there was a QB drought coming out of college. With things are now, there’s plenty to choose from each year. At least half of all starting QBs last year were drafted in the last 5 years.

Jersey Jets

lower taxes, since not nyc.
nicer houses for the money.
a little colder away from the water.
New York in name only.

After trading down? A WR isn’t going 2nd overall. Last time that happened? Last year Ruggs was first at 12.

Evaluate Darnold as if he’s in the draft to the other QBs If no qb puck a tackle to protect Darnold. Not rocket science

I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. Gase is just horrible. Just always remember how much Tannehill flourished as soon as he got away from Gase.

I mean I’m sure even Nathan Peterman had a good throw every now and then.

Sam Darnold is only 5 years older than his running back's son. Their leading rusher has a child in college.

When your QB admits to seeing ghosts out there, he’s prolly not the guy for you.

The thing is ,Watson has a no trade clause. Hes on record saying he doesnt want to be traded to the jets.

The question is, will he turn down the jets to stay with Houston though. It doesn't matter though because they wont trade him so unless things change it doesnt matter.

Hes given a list of teams he WOULD accept being traded to. Which ,to me, infers he will stay with Houston instead of waiving his no trade clause to go to the teams not on said list.

Taking a franchise QB limits them

But taking a tackle in back to back years doesn’t

The expectation for young QBs and lack of patience in the NFL is insane.
He's been hurt and had Gase as his head coach. That's a Trump card.
