If Love continues to pan out, the Green Bay Packers could very easily go 40+ straight years with elite caliber QBs. And outside of a 20 yr gap in the 70s and 80s (after Bart Starr) you're looking at basically 50-60 yrs of the top level QB play in the modern era of the NFL.

Absolutely insane.

Can any other franchise even come close to this?

Colts - Unitas, Manning, Luck?

Steelers - Bradshaw and Roethlisberger?

49ers - Montana and Young?

Bengals with Ken Anderson, Boomer Esiason, Jeff Blake, Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton, Joe Burrow. The Bengals have consistently had good QB’s, just can never get over the hump with them.

Putting those Baws in a list with Joe Burrow like they are in the same tier is a disgrace, baw.

Jeff Blake? Are you serious? Are you gonna compare this dude to Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre?

Bradshaw had been retired for a long arse time prior to Roetlisberger man. Take this one off.

The Packers deserve it because they actually invest resources in the most important position in football… despite already having good talent at that position.

I disagree with your usage of top tier here. He's improved, but I don't think he will consistently be top 3-5 range.

There's a giant time span between Unitas and Manning.

I remember when the whole world called them idiots for drafting Love while they had Rodgers.

There is some hindsight bias going on. It was not smart and they wasted basically his entire rookie deal.

Don't forget Matt Flynn's 480 yards and six touchdown game vs Detroit. He's gotta be mixed into that history somewhere.

The Packers being publicly owned I think really helps them. It allows them to hire good people to properly manage the franchise and you don’t get the negatives of an ego maniac billionaire owner constantly fricking it up because he/she “knows best” or being cheap to pinch pennies

I think you are on to something here. I have been consistently impressed with many of Green Bay’s admin hires, which leads to good coach hires, which leads to drafting and then patiently developing players at key positions, most notably QBs.

One of my go to moves in 2K5 was to trade for Jim Sorgi

Amazing run.

Crazy, that they only got 2 SBs out of it. Kind of a waste when you see that part.

We need to pump the brakes on this. Its his first season and teams will gameplan him more starting next season. It was Dallas and they always choke in playoffs.

Lets look at GB wins/losses this year to see how they had it schedule wise:

Wins
Bears
Saints
Rams
Chargers
Lions
Chiefs
Panthers
Vikings
Bears

Losses:
Falcons
Lions
Raiders
Broncos
Vikings
Steelers
Giants
Bucs

They were 9-8 and that record is not world beaters. Lets see how they do in his sophmore season once teams have film on his tendancies. And lets not forget, he had the perfect situation sitting for 3 years to learn. Its his 4th season in NFL, not his first.

I would not read too much into one playoff game vs a notorious choker Dallas team.

I think everyone understands the value of a playoff caliber qb on a rookie deal just like everyone understands the unlikelihood of having a playoff caliber qb on a rookie deal including the Packers. They obviously prefer the consistency of competent qb play at a higher cost vs hoping to win on a lottery ticket once you are desperate for a qb.

Having a great QB is almost a requirement to consistently get close to the SB. But once you are in the group of teams with a great QB in divisional/conference finals every year it takes a few other things going right to win. Saints fans know this well, had some great teams that came up a game or 2 short due to a no-call, giving up a hail mary, bad injury luck, and horrible defenses.
