Snell can be had but there's no way AA would be willing to stomach the prospect cost to get him.

I would be shocked if Turner isn’t the better offensive player next year.

I feel like you are just saying this to justify not signing Ozuna.

Track record of production is way too spotty.

Ozuna hitting behind Freddie made them both much better players. Turner isn't getting that same kind of respect hitting behind Freddie.

Braves may sign Ozuna but I would rather have Turner for half the years. I won’t change my tune if Ozuna is signed. Turner’s track record is much longer. He’s a very, very good hitter.

I am not a fan at all of signing Ozuna long term. 4 years or longer is going to be a big mistake whoever gives it to him imo.

The way this team is run and the way the core is cost controlled I think going high AAV, short term and being able to pivot every offseason on the supplementation is the way to go.

Some look at this and go "we were on the cusp of winning the WS, and this helps us." I don't disagree. But would adding Bauer/Snell/whomever give us more cover and be more likely to take the pressure off a young rotation? Of course. Whether or not that was a viable alternative - I can't really know.

Fair points. But like w/anything else, you can't win big w/all young guys, you have to have some sort of veteran presence/leadership in order to show the younger guys how to win.

Nelson Cruz on a 1 year deal would be interesting too.

I would be okay w/a platoon of Joc Pederson and Duvall in LF.

Cruz was a .303/.397/.595 guy last year as a 39 year old.

Exit velo was down slightly but he was still one of the 10 best hitters in baseball.

I’d be on board with a Turner / Joc combo.

I’d be more than on board with a Turner / Brantley combo.

My uninformed contract guesses-
- Ozuna - 4 for $80M
- Turner - 2 for $24M
- Pederson - 2 for $16M
- Brantley - 2 for $26

Think you could get Turner + Pederson for same cost per year as Ozuna. Turner + Brantley would be slightly more. And all 3 are capable defenders and less year commitments.

Nah poor management cost a WS win.

Snit isn't it. Wasting some good years here.

You think it was Snit and not the fact that we had to start Kyle Wright, Bryse Wilson and AJ Minter in 3 out of 7 games in the NLCS?

Honestly, the fact that we were one game away from the World Series despite having one consistent starting pitcher for that whole season is a testament Snit's managing.

Snit managed the entire postseason, especially the NLCS, beautifully. The lack of pitching depth finally got to him.

Quit watching baseball. It's not for you.

Eh, Snit had a couple big mistakes in game 5 and game 7. He should never have put Will Smith in to face Will Smith after he had looked like crap his previous time out, and he should have pulled Anderson before he gave up runs given how much he was struggling in the first two innings. Both mistakes cost us big.

Other than that though, he did a good job.

Given Ozuna is going to be 30 next season and has a grand total of two seasons with an OPS over .800, while Turner has had an OPS over .830 from 2014 on, I'm not sure why you think it's really some sort of justification. Turner could easily be a much better signing. Ozuna could easily turn into a pumpkin once he's not playing for a contract.

Really excited and glad Charlie is back!

Turner may be the better option

But I just don’t like the son of a bitch

And I do like Ozuna

So there’s my biased take lol

That I can easily understand. We've watched him be a thorn in our sides way too many years for most of us to not hate him a bit.

I think I mentioned it at the time, but random text from my mom during the NLCS:

"I do not like this redhead"

I don’t get that really. Obviously, he can hit and has hurt us, but he seems likable enough to me. Pretty neutral, actually.
