But shouldn’t a team that cheats do better when they are able to cheat? Again, I am not saying they didn’t use technology at home but the numbers don’t add up. And so far you have opposing pitchers, a disgruntled former pitcher and Reddit as the proof. Let’s let it play out before we attempt to know all the facts

So your flawed logic tells you the home road split trumps anything brought forth by Fiers, other organizations, and in video?

so you telling me that a team, historically a bottom feeder in their league, all of a sudden got good and won a championship, and they cheated??

i can't believe it...

Historically a bottom-feeder? They were in the World Series in 2005. They were mediocre after, and were only a bottom-feeder for a few years when they were purposely tanking.

The tanking led to them getting draft picks to get players like Bregman, Correa, Verlander, Cole, etc... and that’s why they are good.

He was left off of the playoff and World Series rosters during his last season with the Astros (2017) despite pitching well and anchoring the staff during a stretch where injuries had all the good pitchers on the DL.

As far as cheating goes I despise cheaters. But 3 points to consider when dealing with baseball:

1. MLB juiced the balls this year so the homers would be up then they used the normal balls in the playoffs. How on the up and up is that? Point is don’t expect much of an organization in the MLB that intentionally deceives players and fans by literally changing the rules during the season

2. If anyone thinks the Astros are the only ones doing this you are not paying attention (which I get is not the point but nonetheless is relevant)

3. What exactly will MLB do if indeed this is going on? Will they clamp down or will they softly handle it. If anything, the Reddit stuff may force their hand because of the perception and pressure. But they better make damn well sure they have real proof before handing down the hammer. I have very little faith in a league that has the history of MLB when it comes to the integrity of the game and how they have handled it in the past

Astros are going to get fined heavily, lose draft picks, and international money. If they find out current/past players/coaches are involved (even Cora/Beltran) they will be fined/suspended for part of next season.

Well they now have emails among Astros executives and scouts laying out cheating with cameras and using other forms of communication.

quote:

The exec discussed sign stealing with scouts through multiple channels of communication, according to the report, which said a number of scouts were disgusted and voiced their disagreement to management about the idea of using cameras to steal signs. “Nobody wanted to do that, and take a chance of getting caught and ruining their reputation, not only as a scout but then even further damage what the Astros had going,” a person directly involved in the conversations said.

Is that enough proof now?

what would you call emails from astros executives informing their team scouts on how to set up the cameras to look at opposing teams dugouts?

If that is legit and the investigation determines that went on then the Astros deserve the hammer for that kind of shite. No reason with that kind of talent to pull that bush league crap. I don’t respect any form of cheating and would not be able to defend that

I refuse to volley with you further until you address the fact of how you can live 30 minutes from MMP and not (at least to some degree) be an Astros fan.

Trumps anything Fiers and other organizations brought forth

What exactly was brought forth? I have yet to see anything tangible. Just some noises from Jomboy, who almost committed suicide over the fact that the Stros beat his Yanks in six.

The only real evidence that we have are wins and losses. 53-28 on the road (where cheating wouldn’t be possible) and 48-33 at home (where cheating would nearly be impossible because the relay time would have to take place within 1.5 seconds).

you mean outside of the email written by kevin goldstein in which he said
quote:

“One thing in specific we are looking for is picking up signs coming out of the dugout,” the email’s sender wrote in a message from August of 2017. “What we are looking for is how much we can see, how we would log things, if we need cameras/binoculars, etc. So go to game, see what you can (or can’t) do and report back your findings.”

There are numerous forces working against the Astros, but they haven't done themselves many favors either, it appears.

I'm curious how much of the banging and whistling could have simply been just a decoy.

If you’re talking proof of cheating, I would need video evidence that shows they were actually doing it, or at least sworn testimony from someone credible admitting they did it or saw it being done, not an email of “How it possibly could be done.”

I do believe “the email’s sender” should be investigated further, but this could be a rogue employee whose actions don’t represent the beliefs and values of the Houston Astros Baseball Club, thus you can’t label the entire organization cheaters.

Also, something I’ve always wanted to ask you...Are you a Dodger fan or a Ranger fan?
