Why would any ACC school choose to take less money??
It would be a disaster for Florida State recruiting to play in the Big Ten

if the gates close and schools like WVU and VT are out...then it would be hard to care.... A Big 12 with WVU, Pitt, VT, NC State, GT, etc would be ok..but deep down it would hurt knowing we are 3rd or 4th tier...as people would still say Indiana, Minnesota, etc would be the 2nd tier because they are in the group...
We can be outcast together

Bingo. It pretty much will come down to “if you are outside the SEC/Big Ten, you suck.”
Meh the Big XII would have enough members that used to be power programs that they could be somewhat relevant
If SEC and Big Ten each go to 24 the Big XII could go to 24 too and that would neatly encompass the current power 5 plus a few

I mean, if they don’t have a guaranteed landing spot in the B1G, it could go down as one of the biggest mistakes in college football history.
ESPN controls SEC, ACC, B12, and FSU just took a shite on ESPNs front porch. I understand why they did it but it’s still a bold, risky move where the B1G has all the leverage.

FSU is more desirable to the B10 than they are to the SEC. And they'd probably get a full share unlike Oregon and Washington.

The annual TV rights revenue figure in the SEC/B1G is $60M-70M annually, which DWARFS the ACC's $30M payout. Thus, FSU will be able to avoid significant financial hardship.
Most teams still operate in the red despite the huge TV payouts. It will still be painful to drop 100 mil when you’re barely above water already.

Do you believe the entertainment industry will have more eyes or less eyes on the tube, ten years after the two Power conferences are established?

UVA is a Big Ten lock. Forget about them. Northern VA is a giant DC suburb with over 4 million people and is far more culturally, geographically, and academically connected to the Big Ten than any SEC school. If we want a VA school, VT will be the only option. UNC on the other hand is worth fighting for as their alumni will want to play Southern schools.

LSU, OM, and Moo State are all somewhat lower but that is by state in question with regards to entry standards. The other schools are generally comparable to mid-lower Big Ten schools, especially the ones they have been adding since the 90s like Penn State.

No doubt that FSU is worth full share, however, they backed themselves into a postion where the B1G can lowball the hell out of them.
What do they do if something falls through with the B1G-- go Independent? Crawl back to the ACC...for a reduced share? They have nowhere to land if plan A isn't airtight, as ESPN controls all the other landing spots. B1G/FOX will use that to their advantage.

Depending on the landscape of CFB, independent may be feasible in the short term for football while joining a lesser conference in other sports.
If the buyback for rights cost is high enough, FSU doesn’t leave without a new contract all but signed.
If the buyout is low enough, such as the media deal being voided completely, it changes the calculus for them.

UVA thinks of themselves as a public ivy. Its all nonsense in the context of choosing an athletic conference but UVA will want to be associated with the perceived academic high horse that is the Big Ten, especially when their geography and alumni base has strong connections to DC, Baltimore, and other more Big Ten leaning metro areas.

If the Big Ten chooses them, they get in.
Ask Mizzou what happens when they say “Reply hazy, try back later.”

If the B10 tries to lowball them then they'll just join the SEC instead. The SEC already kept the B10 out of TX and would love to do the same with FL.

If FSU joins the BigWhatever then that is an abject failure of the SEC. Same goes for Clemson.

In a 9 game or 10 game Big Ten schedule FSU will most likely play at most 1 or 2 games in November on the road in the Big Ten. Plus with UCLA, USC, Washington, and Oregon the idea that FSU will play 4 straight road games in Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Madison, and Minneapolis is laughable. FSU at the worst will play in Eugene, Seattle, Los Angeles in November and have two home games with the other big ten road game in East Lansing or Minneapolis. Plus, the Florida game is still during thanksgiving week. So the idea that playing in cold weather will hurt FSU is laughable. In fact given the standing rivalries in the Big Ten, FSU will play about 1 game a year in November in the North.

I didn't want this. I was fine with where it was before USC and UCLA bolted for the Big 10. Once that happened it was obvious that the whole thing was about to go full FUBAR.

We’ve been heading there for a while now.
The Big Ten going from Cali to Joisey just cemented it.
