You keep referencing the 2001 Open, which isn’t even in the same year as 2000
if you only meant 2000 tiger why didn't you just say 2000 Tiger instead of 2000-2001 Tiger?
If the issue is me using a 2001 week then what about Vijay at the 2000 Masters? was he not better than Tiger that week?

This may be one of the more bizarre positions on the history of this board. Which is amazing when you think about the other idiots who post here

Scottie’s run is insane, but he is 29 years old. Tiger was already the second greatest golfer of all time (at least) by the time he was Scottie’s age.
Does this even have to be said? Duh
Btw with this win and at 29 years of age Scottie is top 20 all time and maybe top 15. Really hard to imagine he doesn't win at least 2-3 more over the next 5 years too which would get him in top 10 territory.

And your take is one of the laziest takes in sports.
Scheffler could've shot -30 this week and you would still say we can't compare him to prime Tiger.

Well no, because that would have been similar to what Tiger did at Pebble when he won by 15 and could have won by 20 or more if he wanted to

ah so the reason he lost the 2000 Masters is cuz he didn't wanna win also I guess

I’ll look this up later but I think Tiger’s 2000 season is still the greatest measured season in the strokes gained era.
Regardless this debate is dumb. Scottie is certainly the closest thing we’ve seen to that version of Tiger. Moreso than Rory and speith.

You are all over the place. Same with Scottie this year I guess with the same logic
Posted on 7/20/25 at 3:14 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
there were golfers that were better than Scottie 3 days ago, let alone this entire year.

The horse, he’s dead as a fricking door nail. Can y’all quit beating his dead arse? Thanks on behalf of the MSB

Love watching him play. Some call it boring, I just call it great golf.

It's the last major of the year and Mingo wants us to talk about a guy that was sitting at home and how good he was 25 years ago rather than the guy that won today.

I don’t know, he somehow gets dumber and dumber and makes less and less sense with every post, kind of entertaining

One of analysts said, in 1986 was Jack last major, we wondered who would take over next, 1997 Tiger won first major, we wondered after 2019 who would take over next, now we have Scheffler
Well Scheffler with this will have 5 major by 29. Tiger had 10 by 29. It's not the same.

True, but i expect Scottie to win more majors in his 30s than Tiger did.
Doubt he'll ever have a Scottie Slam where he holds all 4 major titles at the same time though.

Yep I tend to agree….i wonder if that conversation might start to change in 5-10 years.

When asked what gave him the calmness on the course, he said ‘I don’t really know’. I was expecting a mention of his faith or something, which I could get.
That is what he is alluding to, but for whatever reason it seems like it’s a conscious decision by him to not make it religious.
