They did not put Gotterup and McElroy together today. Last week Gotterup beat him head to head so they wanted to give McElroy someone else today.

You realize it doesn’t work that way right?

This will be a key stretch for Gotterup after the bogey

This would be a fun tournament to watch if Scottie wasn't playing.

Enjoy the beach and brew, don't think we'll see another Jean Claude van de Velde and his caddie literally blacking out standing on 18 tee with a 3 shot lead

I’m prepared for downvotes… Scottie has the potential to pass Jack. This run is prime Tiger-esque. If he stays focused / doesn’t have the injuries/off-course issues like Tiger did, he can do it. An average of 1.5 majors/yr in his 30s will do it, and he definitely has the potential

I’m not comparing the players personally but after his recent comments I could see Scottie pulling a Byron Nelson or Bobby Jones. Kick arse and then just quit at a young age. Maybe become a preacher or faith based guest speaker or something. He doesn’t seem to care about breaking any records. Just wants to get home in time for dinner with his wife and kid. He’s got all the money he could ever need. Wouldn’t shock me a bit to see him win the grand slam and then just step away.

He’s going to play at least another 15 years. Dudes a stone cold killer, he even said it himself after Friday, he kind of just got caught rambling. He loves the shite

Yeah, I believe him in that he has that internal struggle/dialogue of what does it all mean or what is really important, but not that he's unfulfilled by golf.

rare air to join those two -

looks like the course record is 269 / -15 for 72 holes -

Scheffler is currently -17 with 6 to finish -

3rd time hosting The Open - 1951 2019 2025 -

Forgot that Gotterup won the Haskins and Nicklaus awards his senior year at OU. He's going to be a player to watch for in future events.

To make this even remotely interesting, Scottie will play the remainder of his round left handed, using only a right handed sand wedge. Maybe that’ll make it easier for someone else to catch him. Or even get close to him.
