what an eye opener....they prioritized donors that have paid thousands or in some cases millions to the university over your made up protest? Shocking stuff.

We need to go back to looking at intent. 99.99% of people who have sung the song the past 100 years did so to show their pride towards Texas, UT and, UT Sports. At what point does this usage overtake whatever spotty past that can be linked to the song

Truth be told, "Eyes of Texas" is probably MORE of a rallying cry for racists now than it was 2 years ago because now they have a reason to gravitate towards it

Players really do think everything revolves around them and they should be rich, adorned, loved, and catered to simply because they are athletes.

Why did athletes go from being tough to such mental fricking pussies?

Who would have thought Austin, TX would be the place the woke crowd loses a cancel culture battle.

UT trying to play both sides and stringing the story along has brought out the worst in everyone on this.

Having boosters call players “the blacks” didn’t help anything

Why do the donors want the players to HAVE to stand for it? I feel like playing the song while letting the players choose whether or not to participate is a fair compromise

Man if you're UT this is the definition of an unwinnable situation.

They are paying for your tuition, you do what they say. It’s that simple.

It really is kind of funny. The reason most of these kids chose a school like Texas was all the bells and whistles provided by these same donors that foot the bills.

Of course, they can go back to regular old locker rooms if they don't like having the people who pay for all this having a say in things.

I don’t know.

I’d make a quick decision, and just stick with it. That’s the only way out.

The firmer they are, the sooner it ends.

Why can't there be a compromise. Still play the song, and if there are student-athletes who don't care for the song let them continue on to the locker room, etc.

Instead, they will drag it out, likely cave to the player mob, and then be hated by both the boosters and players anyway

Why do the boosters give a frick? It's a song, I dont care if LSU players stay for the alma mater or not. It seems like some old geezers are mad that every demand is not being met.

I doubt it. It's ironic how starkly contrasted the boosters are from the city of Austin. It wasn't just happenstance that Sark said in his debut press conference regarding the song "We're going to sign it and proudly".

It doesn't help though that the University continues to bring it up. Make a decision, be firm, and move on regardless of which direction they choose.

Because about 10 years ago or whenever 4 year guaranteed scholarships were started, the school administrators decided they needed to be treated as if there were never any consequences for their actions. And every decision since then has only pushed further down that path.
