I'm not sure how long it would take for it to be "done." The big 12 and its members would surely file suit of some sort. You gotta figure Fox Sports takes issue with losing two of the most valuable brands in that TV deal so they'll be involved. Seems like there will be a lot of shite involved to get this finalized.

Baylor literally sued for A&M not to leave the BigXII (and failed) but it's not outside of the realm of possiblity.

That being said, from Day 1, the Big XII has been a hodgepodge group of good athletic schools, however destined to fail it may have been. trying to hold it together for almost 30 years has been no small feat.

It's remarkable that it's made it to 25 years considering the circumstances

With B1G media days coming up and the B1G being the next conference up to sign new network deals, it makes you wonder if this isn’t Texas and OU trying to shake things up and see if the B1G is interested or not? There has been rumors for years of Texas and OU going to the B1G...at least OU.

Why would they want to join the B10 after the shite show of last year? The B10 leadership is completely feckless and buckled under public pressure.

ND even wanted no part of it and went ACC route instead.

This is just going to be an insanely brutal conference

Bama
Florida
Georgia
LSU
A&M
OU
UT
Auburn

All schools feel like they can be year in, year out no worse than top 15 programs and that's all in the same conference

The thing is you'd be playing that many good opponents anyhow with the playoff expanding to 12 unless you are the 1/2 seed getting a bye

It all comes down to whether or not those schools did reach out. Like I said, if they did I'm sure it's an absolute take for the SEC. But nobody is going to come out and confirm that.

I'm not sure how long it would take for it to be "done." The big 12 and its members would surely file suit of some sort. You gotta figure Fox Sports takes issue with losing two of the most valuable brands in that TV deal so they'll be involved. Seems like there will be a lot of shite involved to get this finalized

The way the college playoff expansion to 12 teams seemingly happened over night with big approval from sankey and other commissioners is probably when the talks started.

No offense to Ok St but this is bigger than them and that rivalry plus OU could still schedule them each year as non conference.

A part of me does feel for the smaller state schools because there's not much of anything they can do. This was all set in motion probably months ago and it would be wise for them to have a backup plan - they should've had one to begin with back in 2011 when the last reshuffling took place.

Screw Texas. Don’t want the team or their fans in the SEC. They screwed up the Big 12 and now want to move to the SEC like a bunch of locusts. Let them die of their own arrogance in the big* 12.

Would Texas get rid of the Longhorn Network though? I have no doubt the SEC would not allow them to have it.

Espn would prob just combine it into SEC Network somehow and make exclusive coverages of UT stuff for the time being

For those of you that are excited about Texas possibly joining though, you really have no clue. I mean, it's not as if that school destroyed a couple other conferences with its arrogance.

UT will be a tier 3 team like lil bro AtM
They will have zero voice

That means 7 games against the other West team, 1 permanent opponent, and 1 rotating game.

So you are rotating 7 teams, so you play Georgia at home once every 14 years. Its too many teams, jesus they will chase every last dollar no matter the cost.

I think they'd be more likely to just dump divisions and give every team 3-4 permanent rivalries w/the rest being on rotation.

Can’t have 5 of the big 6 in the SEC East.

Alabama needs to stay in the West.

Who are the big 6?

Certainly not Tennessee lately.

I think that would make the east the stronger side because obviously adding Bama and Auburn is better than OU and Texas... but it's not a landslide.

The GOR is the real sticking point. I have no idea why they would announce this in the summer of 2021 if they can't feasibly move till 2025 but what do I know

12 team playoff expansion is coming in 2023

UT and Ou are showing their cards they want to move. If sec says no then B10 or Pac12 gets a steal and Sec is hung out to dry with a Va Tech or Nc State

No one in the SEC wants Texas. Oklahoma would work, Texas wouldn't.
