I always thought that as well but basically every time Bjork has been asked about 16 team conferences and pods, he's essentially laughed at the idea of them (4 4 team pods) and called them stupid

I'm not saying it doesn't make the most sense from where I'm sitting. I'm just relaying how the guy has responded to the issue whenever asked

It absolutely does make sense and I would definitely prefer it two 2, 8 team divisions. It's just possible for whatever the ADs and school presidents don't agree for whatever reason

They could easily get 5/6 teams in the expanded 12 team playoff though.

If Texas and OU leave the Big 12 you have to think it crumbles away as a conference.

But for the sake:

ACC
Big 10
Big 12
Pac 12
SEC
At large
At large
At large
At large
At large
At large
At large

That's not how the playoff will work though. They are taking the 6 highest ranked conference champs and 6 at large teams.

You don’t think it’ll change to 5 conference champions if there are only 4 power conferences?

He also doesn't want Texas and OU in the SEC period, and that opinion also isn't going to matter.

The league will do what's logical for football which we and most agree includes a pod system. I assume LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State might just join Aggy and Mizzou in voting them down if assurances like that aren't negotiated before approval.

I'm in favor of this. Ha-ha Aggie. I also wonder if Texas and OU are going to get the Big Ten into a bidding war with the SEC. No way the Big Ten takes Iowa State or Okie State if this happens. Kansas doesn't add anything for FB so no way the Big Ten takes Kansas.

Move Bama and Auburn to the East. Keep the stupid Bama/Tennessee game alive and get rid of cross division opponents.

This would be epic make it happen

That's not my understanding who is the 6th conference champion? AAC, Sun Belt, MAC, etc?

It's power 5 conferences then 1 spot specifically for at large from lower conferences then 5 at large from power 5 or lower.

Should also be noted that he was saying stuff like this well before all of this happened and made it like its something that other ADs agreed with

Idk. For whatever reason it just came across like the decision makers don't agree with it

Well ESPN is a monopoly so they must figure, we have to join the SEC and their business partner.

The CFP expansion and NIL have changed everything, and it looks like the SEC, UT and OU just jumped the market on the other power brokers in college football.

Yeah, voting against admitting them would really be shortsighted.

If the sec votes no to OU and UT and the B10 takes them no doubt B10 is the superior conference going forward

@gkketch
2 elements of this Texas/OU to the SEC story that we will have in a free story soon.

1. Texas/OU are expected to inform the Big 12 in the next week or so that the two schools do not in tend to renew rights agreements.

2. Texas is prepared to say goodbye to the Longhorn Network.
