SEC isn't going to expand in markets it already has a presence in. So let's end the talk about FSU, Clemson, and Georgia Tech.

Exactly - it's about the business/numbers/$$, not who we would like to see.

Florida would probably block FSU?

Clemson is "very SEC", but not enough new tv viewers.

Ga Tech left the SEC and UGA has a better grip on that state.

I would welcome A&M, OU, OSU, & Mizzo with open arms!! Make for some long arse road trips, but the TV would make up for that!

A&M
OU
OSU
Mizzo
LSU
MSU
Ole Piss
Arky

Bama
Barners
Vandy
UF
TN
KY
USCe
UGA

BE ONE HELL OF A CONFERENCE! I'd hope under this scenario we'd drop FL and pick up Bama as permanent East opp.

There wouldn't be any "permanent" opponents anymore. Those were put in solely to keep the UA-UT and AU-UGA rivalries going.

All these additions is going to rape the conference of tradition. Alabama is tough, but the mystique and magic of playing them every year is a bit better than Missouri and Okie State.

Isn't the Big 12 the conference we like to make fun of for their no-defense bullshite football. And now we want to add them and their podunk stadiums and facilities?

OU and OSU do not have podunk facilities

Some of the best in the country

There's a difference between a Boone Pickens Stadium that seats 75K and has walls 5 yards from the sideline, and Tiger Stadium, Sanford Stadium, Ben Hill Griffin, Neyland, Bryant-Denny.

I was a Big 12 guy before going to school in the SEC...it's not even close.

Baseball...meh. SEC is still top notch there. The only area I give the edge to in the Big 12 in hoops. Even T&F and gymnastics are better in the SEC.

Did I ever compare them to the SEC? And why are you breaking down the two conferences?

I never said anything about that, just facilities

All I'm saying is they are not podunk

And you said facilities, not stadiums and their seating capacities

OSUs facilities are first class

Well since this is a discussion about them being involved in the SEC, I think it is a legit concern.

From an LSU perspective, I'd hate to give up yearly games with Alabama and Auburn to play Oklahoma State and Missouri.

Hey, I'm an OSU alum and I don't think it makes sense either

It would be a downgrade for the SEC and dilute the tradition

It would bring up all other sports besides football though

As an outsider looking in, I don't think the SEC should expand. It is already an excellent conference as is and you all have a certain "conference pride" that no other conference really has. I think the addition of A&M, OU, Okie State, and Mizzou would ruin that pride. Those are not Southern states and they are not Southern people. They just don't "fit" if you know what I mean. I think 12 schools is the perfect number for a conference. The max I would want would be 14. If the SEC were to add two more teams, I think they should stick within the Southern states. I would go after a Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, or Florida State personally.

Independent, unless they got a REALLY good deal from a conference like the Big Ten.

That Bevo TV contract with ESPN means they'll have guaranteed TV money every year. They'd just need to negotiate a fallback deal with a bowl, a la Navy, Army, and ND, in case they don't make a BCS bowl that year.

Texas A&M does fit culturally with the SEC.

I agree...but I think that A&M alone fits the mold...none of the other Big 12 teams being mentioned are a good fit.

The only teams I'd care to see the SEC add are Texas A&M and Virginia Tech. 16 teams is simply too big of a conference. Adding A&M gives you Houston, much of DFW, and East Texas. Gives the SEC another solid university with very respectable programs in the Big 3 sports. Same with Va Tech. You add Virginia and most importantly the Wash DC market.

You don't have to totally blow up/screw up the current East/West alignment either. Add A&M to the West and Va Tech to the East and be done with it.

A&M is more like the SEC, that is correct. I could possibly see OU fitting in, but OSU or Mizzou?? Umm, not even close to a cultural fit for the SEC.

Mizzou is a Basketball school and only turns out when their football team is elite and OSU has a hard time filling up their 65K seat stadium, and I just have a hard time picturing State fans with SEC fans. They are good people, but just not very passionate.
