In years past I would have welcomed the Aggies joining the SEC. I grew up about 50 miles from there, had friends play there etc. With that being said I am a diehard Tiger Alum! My fiance is an Aggie alum. It was hard enough with the cotton bowl game, I'm not sure our marriage could handle playing each other every year

Why not? We have the idiots from Arkansas

Someone has never been to College Station, Stillwater or Columbia. Houston is about as "southern" as it gets. The DFW metroplex and Okie City are pretty midwestern (Texans used to joke that the border patrol should be on the Red River, not the Rio Grande) but once you get off the beaten path, it's pretty southern. If you think Fayetteville is southern enough for the SEC, Columbia and Stillwater aren't much different. Hell, Bass Pro Shops is based in Springfield, MO. That's about as redneck as it gets.
Very true. Wonder if he's ever been to Southern Missouri. Hell Silver Dollar City in Branson,MO is based on a country, southern theme.

Lord knows this place goes to hell when Arkansas has a halfway decent year.

I am sure they would fit in very nice and would also give LSU and Arky someone to argue with and take shots at. Not to mention I live an hour from College Station and would watch LSU play every other year in Aggie land.

To any Aggie fans posting or reading

well after some thought....I retract what I said earlier. I do like the addition of a A&M in the West and Virginia Tech in the East.
The rest of those big 12 schools don't fit in with the SEC. 16 teams is a little too big. And I'd hate not playing Bama or Auburn anymore.

I'm not a big proponent for expansion since I like the SEC the way it is, but I'd be in favor of this if we could get them.

So, to you, redneck and southern are one in the same?
Pretty much, yeah. Just like Hillbilly and Kentucky or West Virginia and Coonass and louisiana. Perception is reality. Deal with it.
I think Kentucky would be a good fit in the Big-10. Borders Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Pretty much a mirror image of indiana--strong hoops, crappy football. Probably not in that class academically, though.

UK more than pulls their own weight in SEC football and you know it. You can't really say the same for Vandy or Ole Miss (recently).
In 20 years, which three teams have never been to the SEC CG? That's not pulling your weight. Nice showing against Pitt, though. Maybe the Big East wouldn't be competitive either. And Stephen Foster stole your state song from a slave!

I am a liberal and I LOVE Colorado. If you don't like it you and all your dumbass Texas friends can just stay the frick out. We don't need your RVs clogging up our roads in the summer or having to close the slopes while we haul your stupid asses to the morgue after you ski into a tree.

The SEC will only add tv football $$ by adding markets and they would only lose tv basketball $ by dumping Kentucky. Adding a team like A&M or UNC would increase $$ in market share and improve tv appeal in basketball, which is what the SEC would be trying to accomplish...increase their total revenue.
