and how far is to Columbia or Knoxville from BR?
Knoxville - 10.5 hr
Columbia - 12 hr
LSU only plays at those schools once every six years since they're not in the same division.

So much for actually being able to make a conference division road trip.

yes...I would love to poach some Big 12 teams and see Texas' next move.
They're going to wind up independent regardless of what happens.

Based purely on the #s ($$), these would be the 4 adds:
(with state rank, population, key city TV market rank and # of households):
Missouri (#18 6.0MM) - KC #32 941K & StL #21 1.3MM
North Carolina (#10 9.6MM)- Charlotte #24 1.15MM & Raleigh/Durham #26 1.11MM
Texas A&M (#2 25.1MM) - DFW #5 2.54MM, Hou #10 2.12MM & SA #37 830K
Virginia or VA Tech (#12 8.0MM) - DC #9 2.34MM
Adding Missouri, UNC, TX A&M, & UVA or VaTech increases the SEC footprint population base 83% (or 48.6MM) from the current 58.9MM to 107.5MM, while staying contiguous.
These are all decent basketball, baseball and academic adds too.

i sure as frick wouldn't want them judging us by the rant

Ummm... people, for the most part, were pretty complimentary of the experience and envy the SEC success.
Yeah, some stereotypes were thrown out there, and there were some bad experiences, but I read that on the Rant as well.
(Insert any fanbase here) fans will bitch about the opponent after a game. It happens here a lot.

true.

i think the overwhelming majority in the SEC agree that A&M is a good fit.. and also, most want nothing to do with any other schools west of Arkansas and Louisiana, including Texas..
there are several good options to the east, of which UVA, VT, FSU and Clemson seem to be the favorites..

I'm all for A&M, but leave Oklahoma, OK St, and Texas at the door.
If one of the ACC teams leave for the SEC, it's going to be huge news.

A&M would def be a HR. Missouri (STL) isn't too shabby either but the distance is a problem obviously.
Posted on 1/26/11 at 2:21 pm to castorinho
A&M and FSU or VT would be a home run IMO.

My first choice is staying at 12 though.

I'm not a big fan of them or either Oklahoma school joining. I was hoping we would pick up Aggie and someone like UNC or VaTech, and go to a 9 game conference schedule.
The 9 game conference schedule has brutalized the PAC10

SEC isn't going to expand in markets it already has a presence in. So let's end the talk about FSU, Clemson, and Georgia Tech.

Only because it's the only conference to do it (Big-12 is starting this year). If other conferences did the same thing, it would all equal out. Basically the Pac-10 screwed itself vis a vis everyone else for no apparent reason

Can we trade rather than add? Like add OU, A&M, Mizzou, and Okie St. for Ole Miss, Miss St, S. Carolina, and Vanderbilt?
