Extremely talented athlete that unfortunately has had his football career derailed by severe mental health issues. Hopefully he gets the proper medication and support to live a normal life.

That really sucks for him. I've heard an Atlanta radio guy say he was the most talented HS player they had seen in Georgia since Herschel, and that was while he was still at LSU so it wasn't like he was trying to oversell him to Georgia fans.

I don’t think there is an LSU or Georgia fan that doesn’t want to see this kid succeed. But he’s had plenty of opportunities and it hasn’t happened yet. It’s rally up to him. Obviously he likes football or he would have walked away. Good luck to the kid.

There was strong smoke that he was diagnosed bipolar or schizophrenia at the end of the LSU tenure. LSU team had him on good meds, but they killed the desire/motivation to play football. His mom and UGA staff thought he’d do better close to home so he transferred. He stopped the meds to play but UGA staff found out that was a bad idea. Something happened that got him dismissed from the team but I believe it was announced that he was portaling. Probably won’t see this guy in the SEC ever again, or perhaps football in general. A real shame.

wasnt really smoke, pretty much confirmed everythign you said was true

transferred and got off meds and then had melt down on kirby and cussed him like a dog. this was last year when he suddenly had to take a break

uga got him back on meds but when on them he struggles with football and all this past season he never really saw the field or made an impact

in late oct or nov he got back off meds...had another incident in house in nov and was quietly dismissed from the team. he finished semester but went into the portal after not reenrolling for spring, wasnt available for playoff run even if he would have been on the team.

we shall see if he does anything at nebraska. i have my doubts

all of this stems from HS where he had same issues of being schizo. damn shame too.

Yup

Maybe Nebraska will figure out how to help him help himself in a way UGA/LSU couldn't

Unfortunately I think the odds are stacked heavily against it

If this is true then Kirby severely mishandled the situation. However, dealing with someone with severe mental illness is one of the most difficult things possible and not every person with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia respond to the same level of discipline.

Yeah I was referring more to Kirby cursing him out. You can be stern but you can’t make someone who is already going through a disorder that involves paranoia feel like you are personally attacking them.

Kirby didn’t mishandle shite. The standard is the standard. If he can’t handle being coached the way Kirby coaches then Georgia isn’t the place for him. Obviously they didn’t NEED Arik. The program is going to move on with or without you, no one person is bigger than the program

opposite. sorry i wasnt clear. Arik cursed kirby like a dog in front of the whole team. was pretty well known on the uga boards and shortly after arik disappeared from the team for a while. this was i believe last preseason.

i think uga did everything they could, as did LSU.

seems the parents are the problem along with Arik and kirby had a fricking nough shortly before thanksgiving.

i dont blame him either, can only put up wiht so much, even if they are as talented as Arik.

Kind of, but not totally correct.

I didn’t want to get into it too much, but the simple truth is Arik was caught stealing from a teammate. That’s why he’s no longer in Athens.

I pray the kid gets the support he needs in Lincoln.

Man if this is true, I hope someone is telling him “f football”. Stay on your meds and graduate.
