It was poorly organized and the ice storm that occurred that week made things 10x worse. It's why Atlanta hasn't been awarded another Super Bowl since.

Good info. I'm surprised it was poorly run considering all the other sporting events here have been fine.

New Orleans

I love New Orleans, but it's one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. Not everyone thinks it's as great as we do.

Houston is one city not in the regular rotation that blew it out of the water.

Not from a logistical standpoint.

The urban sprawl in Houston is a nightmare for the media and NFL executives. The only nice thing about the Houston Super Bowl was the stadium. The rail system is a joke, there are very few cabs except downtown and around the airports, the bus system is mediocre at best. Houston just isn't set up to hold major events. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants, etc but everything in Houston is a 30 minute drive.

I'm not saying Houston will never get another Super Bowl, but it's not a great city for it.

San Antonio?

The Riverwalk and the Alamo are really cool. Great tourism in that city.

Except maybe for the People in New York, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Do you think we like spending thousands of dollars traveling South or out West watch our teams play in the Superbowl? It would be awesome to get to watch our team in a Northern or Midwestern city for a change. We wouldnt have to spend tons of money all the time. Maybe then we could see how loyal the fans in the South truely are. Would the Saints fans have traveled to New York City to watch the Superbowl? I know if the Browns were there i would. Too much priority is put on perfect weather conditions. Correct me if im wrong, but didnt it rain like a monsoon the last time the Superbowl was in Miami? Newsflash, football is played in bad weather.

Having the game on Saturday most likely has to do with giving people and extra day to spend money at the venue.

Also probably has something to do with television ratings. They probably believe more people will be home on Sunday, because traditionally people are out on saturday.

Same issue with Jerry World out in Arlington. Maybe worse logistically. We'll see how it goes.

No fricking doubt. Saints fans would have shown up if the game was in Nome, Alaska.

Really guys...you bitch about Houston's urban sprawl and shitty bus systems/rail systems? Houston has landed huge events and will continue to. I'm pretty sure NYC has some urband sprawl, but it's a non-issue because it is still NYC.

Every city has it's pros and cons.

I didn't know that stuff about Atlanta, I always wondered why it didn't go back? Didn't the Ga-dome host the second Dallas-Buffalo SB (XXVIII) and the Titans-Rams game?

San Antonio is a joke, lol. Tourism is great and whatnot, but the Alamodome? I guess it's not too different than the Georgiadome, so the venue might not be a problem, but still...it would never happen.

The list SHOULD be this...

New Orleans
Miami
Tampa
Glendale, AZ
San Diego
Los Angeles
Houston/Dallas (whichever gets the rotation that time)
...and I'd add in Atlanta and/or Jacksonville except they royally fricked up their chances recently.

It is still a dump. Listen I grew up in Seattle and I would never promote a superbowl in a dome. The Kingdome was a dump, the astrodome was a dump and the superdome is a dump. It is just an ugly indoor cement dump. We are talking the super bowl, it should be in a nice facility. Not turf, indoors where ideas like a fly by becomes pointless. There are other cities that have things to do within walking distance to the stadium. I understand New Orleans fans being passionate about their stadium but from an outsiders point of view it is not a stadium that brings excitement as a super bowl venue. I would rather them start using the Rose Bowl as a site.

You are wrong. I agree that an outdoor stadium is ideal. But, the Superdome is the best of all indoor facilities.
