I’m talking about the playoffs not a meaningless game in week 1
ok cool, but tha'ts not what the actual conversation taking place was about. Other guy said what if clemson wins the ACC, I said it would just show the ACC champion is that much worse than the SEC's elite. You talking about playoffs has nothing to do with that converstaion.

In my mind, the teams that have the most to lose with a singular injury are UGA with Beck, Bama with Milroe, and Ole Miss with Dart. No other teams are as reliant on singular players as those three.
that's a strange take. What makes you think UGA/Bama/OM's #2 QB is so much worse than OSU/Texas/Oregon/etc's #2 QBs? Any team in america losing their starting QB would suck arse.
quote:
exas, Ohio State, Oregon, and other top teams don’t rely on their #1 guy as much and have guys on the sideline who could produce.
what guys on the sideline? Why are those teams' able to withstand losing their starting QB but UGA can't?

Instead of firing Dabo, all Clemson has to do is mandate him to use the portal. That way they can be an elite qb and all of a sudden they are back in business. It’s really not that hard

but then dabo would give up the fake moral high ground that he loves so much.

Firing Solich was more egregious and the actual beginning of the end.
He's the modern poster-child and the one that immediately came to mind.
Nebraska still had their unique thing going but they were so brainwashed and giddy-delusional over their breakthrough in the 90s and 3 titles and success at a level they'd never had before....they treated that ridiculously unrepeatable high-bar as the norm.
Saban wouldn't have appeased Nebraska's lust and unrealistic long-term view of themselves. You're gonna have some ups and downs, its CFB....Osborne did, Bobby Bowden, Paterno, and many more....you'll have lean years....Oklahoma, USC, Miami in the 90s. That's CFB.
"Solich's 58 wins during his first six seasons as Nebraska's head coach exceeded those of his predecessors, Bob Devaney (53 wins) and Osborne (55 wins), both of whom are in the College Football Hall of Fame."
I remember when Nebraska fired Solich, the AD told the media, "we're not just going to sit back and concede the Big12 to Texas".
By the way....Solich's career record is 173-101. His 115 wins at Ohio are the most ever by a MAC head coach.

Yep that was a big mistake

All that matters are conference games in the regular season and then playoff games. The rest are scrimmages.
Maybe in 1 bid leagues like the ACC, but in conferences that will get multiple teams in, OOC games will play a big factor.

Frank Solich being fired from Nebraska was an affront

If Richt's UGA temas played in the ACC they undoubtedly have at least 1 title.
If the playoff existed during Richt’s tenure, he has 2 titles.

Nebraska fans were spoiled and used to championships and even though it was obvious that Solich was headed in the wrong direction, they should've been happy with 9 wins a year and New Year's Day bowls. LSU fans are now in a similar predicament, with many wanting to run off their HC because he can't win the big one. Be careful what you wish for...

i think part of his grandstanding is that he knows Clemson doesn't have the money to compete. So he is zagging and hoping to recruit players who will commit for 3 years instead of getting into NIL bidding wars that aren't winnable at Clemson

You couldn't be more wrong. November is going to be incredible because there will going to be about 20 teams fighting for about 7 spots. There is going to be more meaningful late season games than ever before. Every game matters.

When Syracuse fired Paul Pasqualoni they hired Greg Robinson and then entered the Dark Ages. It's been a struggle ever since.

Jim Leonhard and Paul Chryst at Wisconsin.
The jury is still out about Fickell.
But I am concerned.

Mullen had won 30 games his last 3 seasons. The Florida administration should all be fired and that’s coming from an LSU. College football was better when Florida was relevant.

Maybe the game should be played first before you declare a 4 TD winner.
They already played the game. And lost by 4 TDs

They can want in one hand and shite in the other and see which fills up first. BK ain't going nowhere for at least 2 years.
