I don't mind the Cardinals. Having so many Tigers contributing actually kind of makes me like them. Honey Badger don't care.

Funny I come from a real baseball area the NY metro area. To new Yorkers, 3 other cities are respected for their baseball fans Boston, Philly and St. Louis OK and Baltimore

Yikes. How to keep this short.....
Cardinals fans are insufferable, spoiled twats; they make Red Sox fans seem mature and measured. Yankee fans win with more class and decency to their competition. When they lose, it is always someone else's fault- Alabama has more grace and willingness to congratulate their opposition for winning.
Unfortunately, they're also spread out by the history of the National League and the Cardinals radio network, so you really can't escape Cardinals fans. For many sports fans, AM radio and streaming radio remain a primary vehicle for sports news, and it is riddled with middle age men, who grew up immersed in Cardinal fandom over half the country-- a fandom-syphilis that extends its red-hazed dementia over everything in sports. Quite literally, you can be listening to a discussion of an AFC playoff game on sports radio in January, and the Cardinals will be injected into the conversation; you can't even avoid the insufferable asses during the off-season.
Toss in the ridiculously self-congratulatory 'best fans' bullshite, and it is just more of the same.
Cardinals fans could take a huge page from Giants fans--- another fan base that many of us don't care for, but who manage to pair superior to the norm success, without being raging douchebags at all times, in all places, to all people.
If you want to improve the perception of the Cardinals, do the following:
1) Don't talk about how your loss in the World Series in year XXXX relates to the situation in another sport, particularly in the depths of the offseason.
2)Enjoy your success-- don't act like not making the playoffs is a cosmic injustice, when it happens.
Those two things alone would go an immense distance in improving how people reacted to both the Cardinals, and their fans.

People hate the Yankees and their fans because of their historic domination of MLB.

Neither of which are self-proclaimed, but are monikers given to St. Louis and Cardinals fans by the national media and the actual players.

You have clearly never been to St. Louis if you think it is full of rednecks. There are just as many redneck Cubs fans as there are redneck Cardinals fans, buddy. Enjoy Illinois, though.

That's part of it. Cardinals fans can be smug at times. Yankees fans are smug while in your face and loud as frick about it. Typical New Yorker who has never heard of an inside voice.

Even though they aren't in the same league or division anymore. I still hate the Dodgers from when they and the Astros were in the NL West together.
+1
I remember Jose Cruz calling them the Doyers or at least that's what it sounded like.

Impossible. Red Sox fans from 2004-now are the worst.
