I swear I read that in a magazine a few years back, the same year Silver Dollar City was the #1 amusement park.

Maybe in Missouri. Although I think it would still be behind the Arch.

I doubt that, SDC is too large country wide.

I've been to St. Louis, NY (both in good and bad Yankees seasons), and Boston.
I'd take the game-day crowd in St. Louis over Boston, in terms of being less crappy, but with NY both crowds were sort of washes with St. Louis. Maybe it was a product of being day games.
Fanbase wise, though? I'd have to hold my nose and choose Yankee fans. At least they might have a little happiness about being successful after a relatively brief drought. Its still like a forced choice between eating a dog turd, a stale doughnut, and gum off the bottom of a shoe, though. The stale doughnut wins each time.

Maybe you don't remember 2011
You mean when they won the pennant?

2008, 2007
You mean the year after they won the World Series and the year after that? Yeah, no one was acting butt hurt about not making the playoffs those years. We were still high off our team's World Series win.

but non-Cardinals fans do.
This tells me all I need to know. The hallmark of a great franchise is being hated so badly by other teams' fans that when your franchise fails to succeed at the highest level, your own fans forget about it but the fans of the other teams revel in it.
You have said absolutely nothing in this thread that hasn't been said by the rest of the Cardinals haters on this board in the past, and those haters have clearly never actually experienced a one on one interaction with a Cardinals fan or been to a Cardinals game.
And that's fine. I get it. There are plenty of people who feel the way you feel about the Cardinals. I will give you shite for it, but it's all in fun. Your hatred of the Cardinals, while rooted in nothing concrete, is understandable, if only because they are a popular team to hate. And people love a good bandwagon, even if that bandwagon is one berating another team instead of cheering it on.

Cardinals Haters...Why do you hate the Cardinals?
But I do like the city of St. Louis.

Should have been 2010. Typo on my part.
Your next, though, illustrates the exact problem. Two years of less than optimal success, and the only thing that can be harped upon is the prior World Series. It is about as illustrative as anything is, of the mindset non-Cardinals fans loathe.
My hatred of the Cardinals has absolutely no bearing on their success, nor is it shaped by their success. In fact, the greatest shaper is how Cardinals fans react when *they* fail. Really, they have next to no effect on my team, so I have every reason to not care at all, as much as any baseball fan can not care about another franchise-- it'd be like a Cardinal fan with a super strong opinion about the merits of the Seattle Mariners.
You write off as 'Haters gonna hate', because you can't process that there are genuine sources of dislike, whether you feel they are justified or not.
This isn't unlike how Cowboys fans relate to other fan bases. Envy is not the determining factor of why people dislike you. They dislike you, for you.

We have big dicks and like to swing them, better hope the Doyers do work.

I'm an Astros fan. They were huge rivals of ours for years and years. Just never really liked them, but I do respect them though.

This makes no fricking sense. On one hand, you're saying Cardinals fan act all upset when they don't make the playoffs because they feel entitled to it, on the other, you're saying they don't mind not making the playoffs because they just say, "yeah, well we won the whole damn thing 2 years ago, so whatever, we'll be alright," and that this is somehow indicative of how terrible a fan base they are.
Which is it?

As you just admitted, the reaction is pretty muted because they just revert back to the fact that they won it all very recently and not making the playoffs once or twice is no big deal. So would you rather they rant and rave and tear their hair? Would that make you hate them less?

You clearly do care. Hate, like love, is born out of passion for something. You hate the Cardinals and their fans. So you obviously care for some reason. I, on the other hand, have no issues whatsoever with the Mariners. In fact, given their recent history, I wish them nothing but future success.

Totally get this. I'm not a huge fan of the Stros because of their history with the Cardinals, but now that I live in Houston and the Stros are in the AL, I'm warming up to them.

Going to be impossible for us level-headed cards fans to post in any game threads now.

I'll slow this down for you, since you cant grasp it.
Cardinals fans always mind. In fact, they can't wait to tell you how much they mind; they can't accept that there are bad years, even for good teams in front of well-run franchises. Everything, always, relates back to the Cardinals. It doesn't even need to be baseball. There is a Bob Gibson story about his non-huge season that *perfectly* relates to the Cardinals fan's cousin getting a flat tire.

Still not getting it, I see. The reaction isn't muted, it is wrist-slitting level sorrow and entitlement type crying, relating back to their prior success as the source of the proper working order of the world.

You are right, I do care-- because Cardinal fans are inescapable, raging douchebags that are a blight on any attempt to discuss anything in sports. I'd love to be able to talk about golf, without the Cardinals being interjected. If Cardinals fans would exercise even the slightest modicum of STFU about the Cardinals when we're not talking about baseball, the world's impression of them would be much better.

Yep. That's a Cardinals fan.
