It's not just the Cards. It's people from Missouri. Y'all are weird. Any state where a place like Branson is a tourist attraction scares the shite out of me. Creepy Yakov Smirnov loving motherfrickers.

Which team do you root for?

Football or baseball? I assumed this would be about football. I am sure there are also college teams called the Cardinals as well. Seems like you would have put the city or college to clarify.

No, I'm really not. Heck, I wish I were! I'd love it if Cardinals fans were just like Giants fans, or Patriot fans, or any other fan base that just inspires eye rolls and 'eff them'. It'd make baseball as a whole a bit more enjoyable, and I might actually root for them to win against other teams I dislike. Unfortunately, they're their own special class of awful fans.

I'm a Twins fan. Not a lot of success, not a non-existent amount of success- a very middle-of-the-road type franchise. Our fans have their own problems, and I cringe at things they do, at times.

Yikes. How to keep this short.....

Cardinals fans are insufferable, spoiled twats; they make Red Sox fans seem mature and measured. Yankee fans win with more class and decency to their competition. When they lose, it is always someone else's fault- Alabama has more grace and willingness to congratulate their opposition for winning.

Unfortunately, they're also spread out by the history of the National League and the Cardinals radio network, so you really can't escape Cardinals fans. For many sports fans, AM radio and streaming radio remain a primary vehicle for sports news, and it is riddled with middle age men, who grew up immersed in Cardinal fandom over half the country-- a fandom-syphilis that extends its red-hazed dementia over everything in sports. Quite literally, you can be listening to a discussion of an AFC playoff game on sports radio in January, and the Cardinals will be injected into the conversation; you can't even avoid the insufferable asses during the off-season.

Toss in the ridiculously self-congratulatory 'best fans' bullshite, and it is just more of the same.

Cardinals fans could take a huge page from Giants fans--- another fan base that many of us don't care for, but who manage to pair superior to the norm success, without being raging douchebags at all times, in all places, to all people.

If you want to improve the perception of the Cardinals, do the following:

1) Don't talk about how your loss in the World Series in year XXXX relates to the situation in another sport, particularly in the depths of the offseason.

2)Enjoy your success-- don't act like not making the playoffs is a cosmic injustice, when it happens.

Those two things alone would go an immense distance in improving how people reacted to both the Cardinals, and their fans.

This may be the most nonsensical, ignorant statement about the Cardinals I have seen on this board, and I have seen many nonsensical, ignorant statements about the Cardinals on this board.

At what point has any Cardinals fan acted like it's an injustice when the Cardinals don't make the playoffs? Are you fricking kidding or are you seriously this delusional?... The Cardinals always make the playoffs. The fans can't possibly act like it's an injustice when the Cardinals don't make the playoffs because that never happens.

I guess to each their own, but I went to college for a year in the Bronx (fall of 2009 no less) and my experience with Yankee fans is not good, don't know many Cardinal fans IRL

You wear this like a badge of honor; like the only true fans of a team must be fans of a middle-of-the-road team. Just reeks of jealousy.

Cardinal fans tend to wear blinders. All fans do, to some extent.

Maybe you don't remember 2011, 2008, 2007, etc-- but non-Cardinals fans do. Both because we enjoy seeing the Cardinals fail, but also knowing that the only consolation we'll get from the talking heads that crow incessantly about Cardinal baseball, is listening to them sob about it.

The best parallel I can offer, for Cardinal fans to relate, is listening to how Colin Cowherd is when the Yankees or Red Sox fail. At best, you get a few pile on shots, but its mostly pissing and moaning about the organization, or how some overpaid player just didn't work out.

To the contrary-- it isn't a badge of honor. Its a simple declaration.

And no-- just because someone has less success, it doesn't make their perception of you the automatic product of jealousy; 99% of the time, the well being of the Cardinals has no direct impact on the state of my favored franchise. I have every reason to be disinterested in their level of success and the general excess that accompanies being a sports fan of a successful team.

Unfortunately, they're just inescapable.

I said they win with more class than Cardinals; not that they win with any appreciable amount of class.

Sure, but calling it a top 5 tourist attraction in the country... no. Just, no.
