This is some scary thought police stuff here. I wish all conversations of all persons associated with teh NBA were put on display and we could see if anyone else would be banned for life.

ut having an openly racist owner that employees black people and has a largely black target audience in the media capital of the world is awful for business. Don't be stupid.

Does he pay the black players less than market value? Does he hire white players instead of black players? Does he make them mow his yard? The guy is an idiot, no doubt.....but this punishment does not fit the crime.

How can he make him pay a fine when he just suspended him for life?

And unprepared, and uncertain. He was quick to say this was an isolated action and in no way creates a rule, but he is wrong. And now you have to worry about what standard you have specifically set, and whether the league can live up to that standard.

what about Donald Sterling makes you think he would do this?

All I know about that guy is that he's a racist POS.

I'm just asking if anyone can see that happening. Has he said anything about fighting this? From my understanding he's been pretty quiet about the whole thing.

He may be a POS and a racist but I hope Sterling sues and wins and sends people a clear message they can't force him to do something he doesn't want to do with his property. The lack of respect for property rights is disgusting.
How about, "frick it, you can keep your property. But you can't play in the NBA."

i am questioning the intelligence of anyone that thinks sterling has a shot in hell at winning anything with respect to what's coming his way. EL OH EL

Then you are fricking clueless. Taking a man's property because of his private opinion sounds consitutional right?

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but if not...

Aren't Sterling and his wife divorcing? Couldn't she just get the team? Keep it in the family? I don't know if he has kids but I assume he does.

actually he didn't want to trade for JJ Reddick b/c he didn't think a white player was worth that much

It's the right decision. If he won't step down on his own, then you force him to.

I'm pretty sure there is work being done to keep anything Sterling away from that team.

now that the president has been set, I cannot wait for the endless line of NBA players being banned for life for making racially insensitive or charged remarks towards white players, which happens frequently. Also, I can't wait for the NBA to go back over video tapes of the last five seasons 2 banned for life any players making racially insensitive statements.

This is what will happen.

Sterling will sue the NBA.

Sterling v. The National Basketball Association will reach the SCOTUS.

What they do, no one know.

it's funny because it's obvious how big of a POS sterling is, but defending his ownership rights and shite is just a terrible move bc you will get crucified. wonder if anyone will have the balls to do it. i guess cuban is. will the media try to ride that?

Some people need to read up some Sterling racist history. These comments are far from his only offense.

I'm not saying the punishment fits the crime; I'm just pointing out the difference between a player saying something offensive and an owner saying something offensive in the NBA's eyes. The league is going to protect it's name and brand at all costs, and if Sterling decides to take this to court (which I assume he will), it will cost the league a pretty penny.

Does anyone think Sterling realizes he's old as shite anyway and just goes out quietly while counting his millions for the last few years of his life?

Why would he do that? He's all about owning an NBA team in LA, not getting more money than he already has
