He does have poor mechanics. He has a one motion shot, that isn't normal.
But he makes it, consistently as well and among the best ever, so who cares.
Aaron Rodgers has one of the worst mechanics you'll ever see for a QB. Doesn't stop him from being arguably the best qb to ever exist.

Maybe the people that don't shoot as well as he does are the ones with bad mechanics?

Not everybody has to have the same exact shot for it to be good mechanics. As long as you are aligned at the point of release, everything else is about individual comfort.

Being a good shooter is about repeatability, not necessarily form first and foremost.
Most good shooters get very little lift on their jump shots. Makes it easier to aim and repeat
