You picked Steph "since Kobe is retired". Which is actually probably the dumbest part of your post. As if you dont understand the scenario.

The bulk of those are reputation based. Similar to Lebron's all defensive teams at the end.

At theori peak they were great defenders, and Kobe is a better defender than Steph for sure, but it's not enough to give him the nod imo.

Kobe did 2 things better than Steph; draw contact & play defense, and that’s it. Steph is SG2 and Kobe is SG5-SG6 all time

It’s on the first page and it has to do with the Olympics
I said Kobe because of what he could do defensively.

I mean you can’t say either of them won it alone. I guess I like Kobe more as his Olympic performance when he said ill guard whoever was incredible and unselfish. Something I’d thought I’d never think of Kobe.

Who else is a comparable player to Curry?

Just from a wing perspective we have guys like Lebron, Leonard, Wade, Harden, and Durant that I don’t think Kobe is either above all time or he doesn’t create huge separation.

It's a great question for debate.

I'm taking Steph though.

Curry is a point guard and Kobe is a shooting guard.

I love them both as players, but I would pick Curry because he can share the spotlight and make others better better than Kobe...Curry being the best shooter of all time combined with the above gives him a clear advantage.

Glad we can all agree Lebron doesn’t deserve to be in the conversation at least.

Pretty sure Steph is a better shooter/scorer from every distance over Kobe. At the basket as well as 3pt shots.

Come on ... Did you ever watch Kobe? Pre-Lebron, he was the closest thing to Jordan. And I never liked the guy.

Is Steph a better shooter? Absolutely. Anybody who thinks Steph is a better finisher at the basket than Kobe has lost their mind. I watched Steph a couple games ago miss several point blank drives and miss an embarrassing wide open dunk.

Steph is very good in his system. Put him on a team where he is the only real scoring threat and teams would knock him down a peg or two.

Waaaaaaiiiiittttttt for it. I used a crazy thing called career frays for both. Anyway, if you compare prime seasons it’s worse for Kobe

Here is each players inidividual best season

Curry

30.1 pts—5.4 rebs—6.7 asst— 63.0 eFG%— 31.5 PER— .318 ws/48—9.8 VORP

Kobe

35.4 pts—5.3 rebs—4.5 asst—49.1 eFG%—28.0 PER—.224 ws/48—6.5 VORP

Stats from Kobe's best year...

35.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.5 APG, 45.0% FG.

Steph doesn't come close to that. You can run all the silly analytics you want and talk about efficiency and improving the guys around him, but these two guys are not playing in a vacuum.

Steph is surrounded by amazing shooters, so of course he is going to show up as efficient. He is a very good player, but don't be a prisoner of the moment.
